Ordered goods, never received them. Seller asked us to close dispute & would re send..never got them

Hi there

We ordered some Yu Gi Oh card from a seller in Hong Kong in January this year.

Never received the cards, contacted seller, he promised to send more.

Months went by, I opened a dispute in Ebay.

He emailed and said he woud refund me ,but I needed to close the dispute first.

I did this on good faith and have now not received any refund at all and am unable to re open the dispute on Ebay

( which I didn't know at the time of closing it!)

HELP.... I have one very unhappy son!

One of the oldest tricks in the book from sellers in such countires (and no doubt he has many, many negs for doing the exact same thing to many other people)

It was an outright lie you needed to close the dispute to refund

Much the same as the 'promise' to send more (they had no intention of doing so)

Have you tried opening a dispute through PayPal? (I DO hope you paid that way)

They must have had a very long handling time for months to go by and you could still open a case with eBay

bear, if eBay or Paypal had a conscience they would allow the case to be reopened if the OP can show eBay messages where the seller has stated that they can't refund without the dispute being closed.................original.gif

We hear of this happening time and time again from (usually Asian) sellers trying it on with inexperienced buyers.

I suspect an Ozzie seller would be NARU'd quick smart if they tried it.

linddavi, log into PayPal and open an INR case in their resolution centre.

You have 180 days from sale date.

And don't close it until you have a refund. (It will close automatically)

Several lessons for you here.

First off-and I hate to say this-but never trust a seller's word when that seller is trying to get you to close a dispute, but there has been no resolution.

If you've got as far as having to open a dispute, you carry through with it till you get your refund.

Once you shut it without claiming, you haven't got the official might of ebay behind you any more.

Second, never let the time frame blow out. Big mistake. You've got an estimated arrival date listed in the ad of anything you buy. Use it as a guide. If something doesn't arrive within a week or so of that date, and you tell a seller that and they don't quickly refund, you open a dispute.

Look at it this way. If you open a dispute, you'll most likely get a full refund. You can then always buy again. But if a seller tries to fob you off by saying they will re-post, you'll be waiting way past the ETA and probably won't be able to make an ebay claim.

Third. Buying from China. It can be fine but the time frames are longer, so if things go wrong, insist on a refund. None of this 'We'll post another' business. The Chinese sellers can get away with things that Australian sellers can't. You can get your money back if you go through official channels but don't expect to see anything happen to your seller's account any time soon.

Last. You left things far too long but try paypal, as others suggested. You get 180 days with them. But do it NOW, your time is running out. It's worth a try.

Your seller won't be expecting that. He would have seen you're inexperienced with only a feedback of 17 so he probably thinks you won't have a clue what to do and he could get away with it. Give him a nasty surprise.Smiley Happy
