Over priced item X10

Have i got the right forum? I have found an item on ebay that is listed at 10 times the retail price. this item is still available in various stores and online, i am not foolish enough myself to buy from him/her but am concerned that someone less informed may fall for it. to make matters worse it is a toy! the listing indicates 35 offers have been made, probably realistic? Is there a way to discouraging these sort of sellers from this behaviour?

Before you cry "caveat emptor" remember this is aimed at pocket money and well meaning pensioners.

This is the right place for some suggestions.

If you post the exact item title, not item number or members ID, we can have a look.

And if you think it violates ebays policies or listing practises, there is a report item link to the right in the listing.

There are so many same lego set listed as brand new and sealed much cheaper. I don't think there is a chance the lego set get sold.

Re: Over priced item X10

Unless the seller has accidentally listed it with a comma in the price instead of a fullstop, meaning to list at 249.90 and set his offers at automatic. And the other maybe should be 75.00.

Syrups is right, they won't sell anyway, anyone searching will have many come up at the same time.

I had a look through the listing and couldn't see anything reportable.

He is only doing himself a disservice as most buyers will just steer clear of that seller and his other items.

His bad luck. 😉

Meant to add all the offers are probably around the $100-$200 mark.

Re: Over priced item X10

I'd say that this is nothing to do with "pocket money". As a rule, I'd say that collectors of Lego know EXACTLY how much the sets are worth.

There is no way that one will sell at that price.

Yeah... don't buy from them. There is NOTHING that you can do that will hurt them more than that... remember, the whole idea of selling is to sell.

Buyers don't just randomly select items and buy them... they research, compare prices, etc. This seller is playing games, but who knows why and who cares.

Re: Over priced item X10

Just did a Completed search and they seem to be selling for $400 max. In Mint condition, they could maybe get $500-600 but anything over $1000 is asking for alot... literally.

Re: Over priced item X10

I agree, but the intentions of the seller are clear. and that is to attempt a chance sale and no doubt make off with the money knowing that at auction you have little or no right of appeal. I think it is at least morally wrong.

I would hate to think the my Dad (who is not at all ebay savvy) bought this for my Son (who can talk you out of a tooth) thinking he was buying a rarity.
