My browser is blocking access to PayPal due to the security certificate being expired. Is anyone else having the same problem? Suggestions as to way foward?
If I access via "pay now", try to log into my account directly, or try to access via PayPal website in a separate browser/window, I get the same error message.
The default Ebay response is to send me via a link to PayPal customer service - duly blocked due to certificate error. Not very helpful.
On typing this I noted this issue has been raised before, circa 2013. What was the resolution then, why does this error occur, what is the recommended best way to proceed?
Cheers
N.

I am using Firefox and Chrome with no problems logging in on either of them.
Have you tried clearing cache and cookies then rebooting your computer? That often fixes glitches.

Firefox and Chrome used here without any problems.
When I had that message a while ago (probably the 2013 message that you mention) I just waited a few hours and it was OK.

It is an IE thing, it doesn't happen with other browsers.

So that explains it......I could well have been using IE back then, although it would have been longer than 2013 since I used IE on ebay.

Nope. Chrome does not give access either. Error message / format is completely diffrent - relates to lack of privacy on what should be an https link - but root cause is the same ie the security certificate.
It does seem to only be my computer however. Didn't have a problem yesterday on external computer which was also using IE. This suggests it might be my firewall / antivirus software?
Hasn't done this before, but if that is the cause, I might be stuffed as I would be reluctant to downgrade any settings, espcially since the whole point of PayPal is to be a secure payment system.

Have you been using paypal with your current security setting up to now?
If you have then it suggest that something has changed in your settings as no-one else is getting the same alert.

It's my system clock. Time / date was wrong and knock-on effect was security certificates being blocked. Who knew?!
