Two weeks ago bought item and paid via paymate, item received.
Now Paymate have refunded cost plus postage back to my credit card.
I have emailed the seller asking for their bank acc details havent heard anything yet.
How can this have happened? I cant believe the seller hasnt noticed yet.
Anyone had a similar experience with Paymate?

Sorry, I have never used Paymate but I have heard of similar things occurring before, although usually I think the payment is rejected (as such) a little earlier than 2 weeks. It's generally to do with their "safety" measures for screening payments, risk assessment etc, although all of the instances of this occurring that I've heard about seem to indicate there was no real reason for the payment to be refunded other than it was a relatively high amount ($100+).

thanks for the reply, and yes it was over $100 transaction so weird...
Anyway will await sellers reply, trying to do the right thing but can only do so much.

I have had a Paymate account for years but stopped using it when a payment over $100 was rejected, I really can't understand why any seller would want to bother with their slow, clunky and unreliable service.

You can try pulling the seller's contact details. That should give you a phone number.
Although the seller may well have gotten seller protection from Paymate. In one way or another. I know I'd be vigorously pursuing avenues if they took money from me after I had posted an item.

UPDATE: Seller finally got in touch, she said that Paymate asked for proof of ID and copy of her utility bill before she was able to collect her own money via Paymate, what a hassle!
Anyway paid her via bank deposit, shes a newbie seller by the looks - told her to look into using Paypal instead.
She thanked me for my honesty lol well lucky she encountered me rather than somebody who would have take advantage of her misfortune ๐
