Paypal dispute - whats the hold up?

I opened a dispute last Tuesday ( item not received ) and its been sitting on "being reviewed by paypal" ever since.

Is this normal for them? Ive not had a dispute in a long time so dont know their procedure.

The seller sent a fake tracking number & every other person who bought what I bought hasnt received it & sent negs due to no item/no contact ( the feedback was viewable up until Friday, now its private) I have emailed them 3 times over the past 2 weeks with no response ( but they have had time to change feedback settings!! ) wouldnt this be pretty straight forward and I get my money back? I assume others have disputes open aswell against this person.

Would just love to know why Paypal have to review it for so long, because up til this point the seller hasnt even had to reply!

TIA 🙂

Paypal dispute - whats the hold up?

Is it a dispute or claim?  There is differnce.

But yes I have had some some claims go way beyond their expected dates.

This is fairly normal so that PayPal can exaime claim/dispute from every angle and come to the best decsion.  Same as say a murder case it may take longer than expected to get all facts & evidence correct.

Have you escalated to a claim? if not,do so now, today as sounds like you won't get your item & I personally wouldn't be leaving it any longer if what you've said is correct re seller copped negs & feedback is now private.

You won't get your money back if you only leave at dispute level.

I'd also be ringing Paypal just to double check they understand tracking number is fake.

I'd also follow up with an email to

complaint-response@paypal.com

Make sure you sue the PP number as the email header.

Thanks for your replies!

Yes I have escalated it, I waited a month for my item then thought I may aswell escalate straight away since I wasnt receiving replies from seller, and seeing the other feedback didnt help matters, everyone was saying the same thing.

Thanks for the tip of ringing them! I didnt realise I could do that! Yes I was worried that they would say "Sorry you have a tracking number, too bad so sad" type thing. Will def make sure they know its not a legit number.

Good to know they can take longer than expected, i thought they forgot about me!

Hahaha yes ill "sue" my PP number as my header 😄 Love it!

As you have escalated it they will give the seller 10 days to reply to the dispute.

If they hear nothing from them after that 10 days you will be refunded.

Problem is though Sparklz, the seller has given fake tracking number to Paypal so thats why I believe its VERY important that Oreily both rings & emails or claim could very well go in sellers favour.

Just wanted to say thankyou for the advice received yesterday.

After contacting them re: the tracking, they have now closed the case and I have received a refund.

I actually feel for the seller. Looks like everything that has gone wrong has been happening in the last month or so. That doesn't excuse sending a fake tracking number but, who knows what the reasons are?

Sorry, back on topic-I have no comment

Why would you feel sorry for the seller, nobody has their items, the tracking number was fake, they refused to reply to my emails although they had time to make their feedback private so they are still online ?:| If his account was hijacked or something, I doubt they care enough to make feedback private. Seems he took money for something he never intended on sending is what it looks like to me.

Obviously Paypal saw something dodgy also as it never even got to the point of waiting for the seller to reply, it went straight from my complaint to Ebay reviewing it to me getting refunded..
