Purchase history sequence

Just checking to see if I am doing the right thing. Made a purchase (won an auction). Chose Bank Deposit. Seller messages me the deposit details which means that I cant mark as Payment Sent. Few days later I message the seller to see if he has recieved the deposit. He says he has and, lo and behold the item arrives, all good. Purchase history still reads "Mark as payment sent". Should I just go and leave feedback? What would be appropriate feedback since he did not communicate to tell me of deposit recieved and item posted? Seller has 100% and 2500 trades, maybe he's just busy with Christmas and all? Thoughts?

Cheers. M.

Oh my!

The way I understand it is that you could not mark the item as "payment sent". After that you seem to be asking if you should be marking down the seller's communication rating. Is that true?

Why would you do that? The seller told you that they received your money and then sent your item. You received your item, didn't you? What else would the seller need to do to deserve their 100% positive feedback? And what else do you think they should have done if it wasn't Christmas and they weren't so busy?

From a seller's point of view, I doubt I could do anything else for you.

Sorry, back on topic-I have no comment

All of the most important actions were taken, that is despite not updating the icons in eBay, it sounds as if the seller followed everything else appropriately - that is, sent you the necessary payment details, and posted the item in a timely fashion once payment was received.

It is nice, particularly when paying by bank deposit, to receive some sort of acknowledgement of payment and updates to the order status, but ultimately, as everything progressed as expected despite that, then it would be (in my personal opinion) appropriate to leave feedback for what to me seems a positive transaction.

Clicking the icons can sometimes be missed, and although it updates the order status, I don't necessarily think it's communication per se, and it sounds like you received a prompt reply to your enquiry, so their actual communication sounds decent enough to me. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Re: Purchase history sequence

OK, sounds like I am worrying over nothing. Quite usual then to not be informed of deposit recieved and item sent without asking? Thank you for your advice, I will leave all positive feedback.

Thanks Kopes. Much more concise and to the point than my reply. Just couldn't believe the question and thought I'd make sure I understood correctly.

This is what I was referring to the other day with my FB when I said eBay should be training buyers before they give it. I remember from my noob days giving a seller a neutral because I was neither impressed nor unimpressed.  I got what I asked for, end of story - In my opinion, I should not have been allowed to give my opinion/FB back then ๐Ÿ˜ž

Re: Purchase history sequence

I think iso may have been concerned that because the sent box had not been checked that somehow down the track the seller might have been able to claim they had not received payment.

I think it's good they asked, what to some may seem a silly question rather than leave inappropriate feedback.

To me it seemed that iso just wanted to do the right thing and is trying to learn the system, if that is the first time that has happened to them, it may have caused some uncertainty...
