Just checking to see if I am doing the right thing. Made a purchase (won an auction). Chose Bank Deposit. Seller messages me the deposit details which means that I cant mark as Payment Sent. Few days later I message the seller to see if he has recieved the deposit. He says he has and, lo and behold the item arrives, all good. Purchase history still reads "Mark as payment sent". Should I just go and leave feedback? What would be appropriate feedback since he did not communicate to tell me of deposit recieved and item posted? Seller has 100% and 2500 trades, maybe he's just busy with Christmas and all? Thoughts?
Cheers. M.

If they are having such a hard time working out Bank Deposit, perhaps they should switch to PayPal to make things easier for themselves and the seller..
Now you have it Patchoo ebay make it harder and obfuscate a process that could be simple
(see post 16)
and that experience in my opinion is designed to get people to
"switch to PayPal to make things easier for themselves and the seller"..
which in turn favours paypals bottom line... another example is free post.... how do you think that favours ebay users????
another example is 5 communication stars when there is no communication.... how does that enrich an ebay members use of the site??? ie sending an email after you process a bank deposit or sending an email when a bank deposit surfaces in your bank account means that your communication skills need to be judged
....however

woops got a little winded there
No communication after sale especially to let you buyer know that their bank deposit arrived means that your skills are automatically judged as ebay perfect

using Bank Deposit negates the auto 5stars for communication anyhow, Viewmont. Auto 5 stars is only available to sellers who use PayPal and post within 1 day with no communications !

OK, sounds like I am worrying over nothing. Quite usual then to not be informed of deposit recieved and item sent without asking? Thank you for your advice, I will leave all positive feedback.
Cheers, M.
Why not pay by PP in future? That way the item gets automatically marked as paid.
Seller with large volume of sales may find it tiresome to go through all their sold items and marking that they got payment.
Just leave FB.

The information on your My ebay page is only for your own reference, it makes absolutely no difference to anyone what happens there. I have my bank details in the listings so it is perfectly possible for people to pay me without going through checkout and so the status on the page may stay the same until after I have posted the item, I then mark it as paid and posted but have on occasion forgotten, I have never had a buyer complain about that lol.
Why not just pay with Paypal, you then have buyer protection and all icons will be updated automatically!

As a matter of interest I have just had a sale where payment was by bank deposit. In the past I have been able to select a "paid and posted" option ine drop down menu. Now only a "posted" option is included and I have been unable to find any way to confirm that payment has been received.
I have marked the item as posted and it is now sitting in my Awaiting Payment list instead of moving:-( to the Posted section.
Any suggestions?

Mmmmmmm - after letting my subconscious time to operate I went back to the Awaiting Payment list - selected Change Status from the menus on the left hand top side and was able to select Paid and Posted.
I do believe however that an option has been removed which has added to my normal confusion.:-(
