Well, today I received an empty post bag. I bought a small pendant, so it was sent in a small padded mailer, as registered post. That was still stuck fast when it arrived, and I definitely opened an empty bag. What do I do? I feel pretty sick to be honest. Have contacted the seller, no word back. I doubt I'll hear back.

Yes Dee, that is correct, you can only open a dispute when the final ETA has passed.

Open a dispute with eBay's MBG (see below) for "item not as described" NOT "item not received" (since tracking would show delivery of the parcel)

Edit. DO NOT close the dispute until you are completely satisfied with the outcome - closed disputes CANNOT be reopened.

Thank you. The seller says they packed it themselves. I think if I get through this bad purchase, that's it for me with ebay.

Actually there's no option for 'received empty bag.' Nothing remotely close. The chat bot told me it can only handle Australian purchases (which this is.)

Just follow the steps I gave you, eBay CS reps just read off a "cheat sheet" - or you will just get a "bot" that does the same.

padi told you what to use, ""item not as describe"", which if it was an empty bag, it was obviously not as described.

Thanks for your help above, padi and sugar, much appreciated. I think I have to wait until the delivery date passes for the option you've mention come up on purchase history. The mail delivery data hasn't updated yet. and all that's showing is 'request a refund' and those options are very specific and don't apply.
Does that sound right?
