Registered Post is now Signature on Delivery which turns out to be a literal SOD.
Even though the AusPost website still contains reference to $100 basic cover
for lost items there is no longer any such cover.
To have any chance of compensation you need to pay for EXTRA cover.
This of itself 'implies' there is a basic cover and that you are paying for
'extra' beyond the basic cover ( which no longer exists ).
To sellers there is no risk because basic Click and Send will
provide Proof of Sending and protect them from INR PayPal claims.
I believe that the term 'Extra Cover' is absolutely deceptive and
it is only buyers who will be disadvanted by this new system.

Hey Fixnwear,
Iโm sorry that you feel this way about the service that we offer. Please keep in mind that for small and large letters, we still offer Registered Post which comes with up to $100 cover. This is without Extra Cover.

How many ebay sellers send small and large REGISTERED letters ?
I suggest you suggest to your web master to
A. Substitute the misleading term 'Extra Cover' with the term 'Insurance'.
'Extra Cover definitely implies that there is some basic cover
( which no longer exists for parcels ).
B. Remove the documentation which is STILL current at the AusPost website
( Schedule_10A ).

Further.
This new SOD system is a dog's breakfast.
When processing items at Click @ Send I am given the option
of SOD which is well and fine to a point.
For non ebay satchel parcel postings the tracking number is posted to
the buyers purchase record YET when presented at the post office they
insist on attaching a separate sticker and the barcode on the sticker
is scanned in and NOT the barcode on the C & S label.
After complaining to C & S support I was assured on separate occasions
that this should not be occuring.
It's a joke.

You mean apart from the cost of registering the letter in the first place as some kind of reassurance that you will do your job?

the majority of my items are sent as large letters & registered

If AP's website is still stating $100 cover, then I suspect any Postal Industry Ombudsman would take that as an enforceable undertaking on AP's behalf.
btw Registered for parcels disappeared with the APRIL increases.

I do if it will cost me more to refund than replace.
I have been using C&S for a long time now and have never had a parcel go missing so I am quite happy sending without SOD for cheaper items, with SOD for more expensive and of course with extra cover for over $100.
In the unlikely event that an item without extra cover goes missing and I do not get compensated I willl not be too bothered as I factor in a few cents to each item as a 'slush fund' to cover thst eventuality, I would have to have a very large number of items go missing before I was out of pocket.
As for PO staff not processsing the parcels correctly ask them to use the correct procedure and if they refuse or can't be bothered to find out how it is done put in a complaint to AP

Hi fixnwear,
Thanks for your reply. I appreciate your feedback around our Extra Cover service; I've passed this through to our product team for their review and consideration.
The point you have raised regarding the extra tracking label being put it is definitely concerning and I agree that this should not be occurring. When you contacted Click and Send regarding this did they investigate it for you at all?
