Removal of negative feedback

For the past couple of months I have been monitoring the feedback of a seller I purchased from. This came about after a nasty experience with this seller and my negative feedback I left was removed. This seller consistently manages to have negative feedback removed somehow and in most cases without the buyer being aware of it. 


 


This to me is not fair on buyers that use feedback ratings to decide on using a seller or not. Not only that it shows just how flawed the feedback system is. 


 


I have contacted ebay many times regarding this but they refuse to answer my query as I was not the buyer. Over the past 2 months the seller in question has managed to remove 17 negative feedback comments. This should not be allowed!

If the comments don't qualify for removal maybe he lies to ebay. I've recently asked for a comment that is full of lies to be removed and they aren't interested.

Click on customer support in the top RH corner then click on the  Contact eBay tab then on the next page hover your mouse over buying and from the drop down click on report a memeber and follow the prompts till you see Call us and click on that and you will be given a free call number to call and a code to enter.


Tell them you want to know why your FB was removed and you want it reinstated or the whole purpose for feedback is void if the seller can get it removed for the truth being told.

OP, If f/back is removed by mistake on the part of Ebay staff - they will only re instate it if the f/back recepient agrees - and in this case they are hardly likely to as it was a negative f/back.


If there was no mistake, if it was removed because it fell within the guide lines for removal - no amount of complaining will result in it's re - instatement.

Yes, that feedback could well disappear and with good reason...it qualifies for removal because it is not directly about a transaction.


There are many reasons for feedback to be removed...personal details in the feedback, rude remarks...and the fact that it does not refer directly to a transaction.

As far as i can see Ebay will only remove feedback if it is unfair feedback.


I have had Unfair feedback in the past,I contacted ebay and they would not remove it.


So they must have a good reason to get it removed.

I would self-report at least the two posts with screen shots, and probably the other one where you also identify the member.


 


It is against board rules to name and shame a member.

With regard to this feedback:-


 


No item received postage blamed, terrible communication. Refund took 2wks.


 


Ebay can see all messages between the buyer and seller (if sent through the ebay message system), they can check on the AP tracking site to see if a parcel sent with tracking has been lost by AP and they can also see the date of any refund.


 


If from that information they can ascertain that the feedback left by the buyer is incorrect and not a true reflection of the transaction then they will remove the feedback.


 


With the huge volume the seller is sending out each month even if they had received 17 negs which were removed they still have a very good record.

jensmanchester beat me to it!


Ebay can see the messages, they can verify the postage, they can see the details in the listings - these days it's incredibly easy to disprove someone's false claims as almost everything is documented.


And I was also going to say, 17 negs for the volume of sales for that seller is nothing - one always gets whingers, in fact, that is far less complaints than a supermarket or large chain department store gets in an hour!

Freudian slip by the negative removing  seller, .. or maybe just lacks a little confidence in their product and therefore requires constant reassurance :8}
