Return Item not as described to America

Any body has experience returned a laptop to America?

The laptop is on the way to Melbourne. I found out the laptop is not the item as the seller described by MPN and its specifications and the worst mistake is the screen non-touch version. The seller  asked how much partial refund I would request. The seller also delisted the item as no stock after they realised the issue.

Any experience using FedEx for returning to America? Sounds complicated from United States Commmunity Hub.

or request partial refund? How much? Any advise?

I wouldn’t mind take the partial refund however, the seller was an authorised seller with their misleading descriptions ruined the whole transaction. I also found out the seller had at least 300USD margin by this sale.

I have taken this to mean that the non touch screen laptop is at least $US300 cheaper than the touch version. That's a lot.

Added to that is the fact that even if you were given a $US300 refund, that isn't really acceptable as you could have just paid the lesser amount and bought a non touch screen one at the start, if that is what you had wanted. Plus this laptop is not to the same specifications as the one you ordered.

It worries me that the seller, knowing the problem, has not made any suggestions to you as to partial refund amount.

You still have 2 options.

You can write to the seller and cite that, as the non touch laptops are at least $US300 cheaper, you feel a partial refund of X amount (I don't know, $US400?) would be fair to cover the difference plus the disappointment of not getting what you wanted & ordered in the way of features, because of the misleading decriptions in the ad.

Whatever you do, do NOT mention feedback.

If you do not get a reply within 24 hours or so, I would not hesitate. Open an ebay claim for item not as described.

You can in fact do that today if it is the option you prefer. If you do that, the seller needs to pay the return postage, so don't toss the box it came in, you may be able to recycle it. After removing all the present labels of course.

Follow ebay guidelines exactly though.

Open a claim. You should win.

When it is posted back (at seller's expense) it should be with full tracking.

You have 2 months in which to leave feedback but if I were you, I'd wait till this is all sorted and give it then.

Any Advice?

Wait until you receive the item.

Further advice would be generic - why buy a computer from the USA? They are readily available in Australia.

Have a think about the type of laptop that is on its way and whether it would do the jobs you want it to do.

Is a non touch version acceptable to you, even if it is disappointing?

Maybe look up Australian online prices for the non touch version. Or even ebay prices for the non touch ones, to work out what would be a reasonable price, then deduct a little bit more because you're being sent something you weren't after. That might give you a ball park figure for a partial refund.

Obviously, a partial refund would be the easiest route and possibly would save the seller money too, but your interests come first.

If you find the laptop that is coming is acceptable, albeit a bit disappointing as it lacks a couple of features, then you may go the partial refund route.

If it really is not acceptable at all, then you'll need to arrange with the seller for a return for a full refund, which should be at their expense.

I had the delivery this morning. As expected this is a non touch version after check up with Lenovo service agent even the delivery label says it is a touch version.

I will see what is their response.

I take the point I will buy from the local. Thanks

Does it matter what the sellers margin is,  as a seller is allowed to put any price on an item,  if they like their marging could be $1000.   That has nothing to do with the issue.,

Why not open an item not as described case?

Are you returning the laptop? Or is it a partial refund?

Fully refunded. I would be happy to accept the partial refund which the seller looks like slow in response.

This is probably for the best, merriam, as once you have the refund you can look around and buy exactly what you want. Maybe check out some of the real stores in your area for prices as they often have sales too.
