Seller being very inflexible, refusing to send item at my expense.

Bought an item pick up only which I did not realise. Accepting my mistake and contacted seller to give me his address for me to send him a prepaid satchel. He just refused to send it to me and says pick up only. Item is 1500kms from my place.

You do not have any feedback as a seller on the account you are posting on

As a buyer, eBay will only allow you to have 100% positive, it is utterly meaningless

You have been on eBay since 2005

If you do not know by now to read the listing (it says it clear as day ) that is on you

And you are still trying to get the seller to do as you want by telling him you will send a courier

The seller will be well within his rights  to report you to eBay if you keep this up

Ok thanks, yes I am just a buyer not a seller.

You learn something every day, 100% as a buyer is meaningless. Did not know.

Many years ago sellers were allowed to leave negative or neutral fb for a buyer, but now they can only leave positive fb and are not allowed to write negative comments with a green dot (false positives), that's why buyers can only have 100% positive feedback.

Since the item is paid for, your main option is to ask the seller to cancel, NOT keep asking them to send it!

1) Best solution is for seller to cancel

2) Another option is to open an Item Not Received case (not 100% sure if this can be done with a pickup item, but worth a try). Technically this puts the onus back on the seller to prove that it was "delivered".

3) Thirdly, if the dispute option does not work, you can initiate a chargeback with your bank.

Just to add - I'm not sure if you're aware that there are no warranties on Ebay. Even if you got this item, you have zero recourse after 30 days if something goes wrong. Better to buy this kind of stuff from proper Aussie stores to get warranty.

Your best option is to ask the seller if they can cancel the sale, perhaps citing 'problem with address'  as the reason. Sellers can suffer some consequences if they cancel sales through their own fault-I am not sure exactly how it works (long time since I was a seller) but a downgrade to their account? Something like that. But if it is the buyer who wants the cancellation, that's different. The seller will be okay if cancelling for that.

Your account won't suffer at all either if the seller cancels for an approved reason.

If the seller does not cancel, you can make an ebay claim. You have 30 days.

If that didn't work out, you can most definitely make a claim via paypal if you paid that way. It will make no difference that it was a pick up item, the fact you don't have the item is enough.

I know this for a fact as we had this happen to us as sellers. A person who lived in the next suburb demanded that we post a pick up item and when we said no, they reluctantly said they would pick up, but the next we knew, they had opened a paypal claim and had a refund.

Just make sure you don't open 2 claims at once. Try ebay, then paypal, in that order.

The seller would be far better off to cancel the sale because if they let things go to the stage where you open a claim, they can't even give you a strike of any kind for non payment.

Re feedback, it does still have some relevance and it is always worth looking at if you are making a purchase. A buyer can still give a negative or neutral to a seller. It is just that a seller can only give a positive, but they do of course have the option to leave no feedback at all.

So when you look at a person's feedback, look at 'feedback as a seller', so you can check if someone with eg 50 feedback, actually has any of it as a seller.

stop it!

Seller wants you to pick up this item.  They said NO to you sending a satchel.  Couriers are a nightmare for a lot of people.  The seller would need to be at home when the courier wants to pick up the item.  Couriers rarely state an exact time, going with a range instead i.e. "between 2pm and 4pm".  This can be very inconvenient.

The seller does not want you knowing their address, as is their right.

You would have been better off coming here asking if anyone lived near this seller who could help you out.

I once helped a buyer from WA get a large/heavy 'pick-up only' item from Sydney.  Organised for it to get to a brother of mine in Sydney.  I then drove 1000km to get the item from my brother and 1000km to bring it home to my place.  Then I drove 3000km to deliver the item.  Didn't charge the buyer a cent for doing this.

Sounds like a great thing to do for someone, but I was going to Sydney anyway and had a trip over to WA planned as well.  The buyer was happy to wait for the item and I get to say "I once drove 5000km to deliver an eBay item".

Thanks for your explanations and I understand a bit more now. I just need a good friend like you living near Sydney.

Have a great day.
