Seller cancelled due to personal reasons ???

Hi, I recently bid on an item and won it and was in discussion with seller to pick up or post, decided post on Wednesday and asked for their details to pay. Today I get a message that they have to cancel for personal reasons, sorry, and they will mark as paid and give me great feedback? What do I do, I really wanted the items, but cant force a seller to post them I suppose? Dont really want to leave good feedback though.

There is no way to force the seller to supply but you should at least let them know it has inconvenienced you.

If they refuse to sell there is nothing you can do to get the item, but consider your words carefully when you leave appropriate feedback (which in this case could be a neg. along with the comment "seller refused to complete transaction").

When leaving feedback, mark the DSR stars down accordingly as you think appropriate. Leaving no stars wont impact on the seller so make sure you leave at least 1 star in each area you are not happy with.

You can try reporting them for seller non-performance but there have been posts stating eBay no longer acts on these reports:

Maybe leave neutral feedback with Disappointed, seller did not complete the sale.

If it was the snapbacks,seller has only received 8 feedback for selling & 1 of those was a neg.

I dont quite understand how somebody can do DSR on the item description, post cost and post time when the sale is ultimately going to be cancelled or not happen. Maybe leave 5 stars for communication.

Any such feedback should be removed.

Hi OP,

so sorry to see you have missed out on your item!

But the fact that "you really wanted it" doesn't make any difference to the seller, it's their item, they obviously have a personal reason (like someone in the family would kill them if they sell it!) - and  even if the neg was left it wouldn't come close to the perils that may await if they go ahead with the sale!

And why leave a neg - it'll be almost certainly removed anyway and you can't leave the stars as no other details are relevant as there was no sale.

Same thing happened to us - once ever - didn't want to proceed with sale for "personal reasons" that being that buyer insulted one of the girls who works here. She didn't feel inclined to apologise, left a neg as promised, it was removed like, instantly - and that was that.

I don't understand your response or attitude, to be frank

Are you advocating a 'no personal responsibility' attitude for sellers?  Does that include buyers as well ?

If someone bids and wins one of your items and then refuses to complete the transaction, are you as easy on them as you appear to believe buyers should be re: sellers who refuse to honour a transaction?

Are you saying eBay rules are to be ignored and advocating for an 'anything goes' approach?  Do you put that in your item descriptions, eg.,  ' We encourage you to bid, but if you change your mind later and don't want to honour your bid, hey, that's ok.  It's only a loss in time and money for Jameshouseofstyle, so don't worry about it buyers -- just stuff us around and make us relist, resubmit etc.  We at Jameshouseofstyle have plenty of time to waste so go on -- stuff us around, we won't hit you with a Neg because hey -- it will be removed pronto anyway '

It can only be cancelled if the buyer accepts a request to cancel.

The stars are easy 1 star for description because at this stage the item doesn't exit

1 star for communication because the seller has said they wont proceed

1 star for postage because item never arrived

and a neg because you are very unhappy about the transaction

Never let a bad seller off easy, they will never learn

1 star for something that doesnt exist? I wouldn't let the seller off easy lol . Surely the deserve a 5 star rating for creativity
