Hi, I recently bid on an item and won it and was in discussion with seller to pick up or post, decided post on Wednesday and asked for their details to pay. Today I get a message that they have to cancel for personal reasons, sorry, and they will mark as paid and give me great feedback? What do I do, I really wanted the items, but cant force a seller to post them I suppose? Dont really want to leave good feedback though.
Thanks,
Jessiebob01.

When I bid on something I usually need it, most likely will need it soon, within couple of weeks. If the seller then refuses to sell, he has wasted my time and leave me under pressure to find replacement quickly. It may mean I will end up spending more than I intended, or that I may have to do with something not as suitable.
When I am considering items to bid on I would like to see if the seller has decided not to go through with sale previously, so I can make up my mind whether I want to deal with them or not.
While I have sympathy for people who may have some personal drama that prevents them from completing the sale, but unfortunately there have been so many people (buyers and sellers) making ridiculous excuses, that we are all rather suspicious about any excuse. So I am not surprised that some seller, who may have some dreadful tragedy in their life, is not saying exactly what is the reason they want to cancel the sale. I would look carefully if they were active on eBay at and after the time they wanted to cancel this sale, and if they were, I would definitely leave a NEG with only 1 star for everything except postage cost.

"Hi, I recently bid on an item and won it and was in discussion with seller to pick up or post, decided post on Wednesday and asked for their details to pay"
just out of curiosity was the item originally advertised as "pick up only No post"
or
were both options advertised in the original listing?

Why leave any feedback yet? You have up to 60 days so wait a while and see if they re-list. If they do then you can pretty well take it that they were telling porkies and just wanted more money so you would be more than justified in leaving a neg.
If they don't re list it then don't leave any feedback.
