Seller cancelled order WON about 24 hours after I won auction - automatic refund given. Rate seller?

Seller cancelled my order (worth $95 plus postage) without any notice, almost 24 hours after I won the auction - automatic refund was given.

When I asked why it was cancelled, she said item was damaged. I asked for a photo as I still wanted the item - she said the item was at her parents & Covid restrictions.

Then she said she actually wanted to keep item!
Do I have grounds for any sort of official complaint or do I just give the worst feedback?

Quite possibly she does do a lot of selling via FB. Lots of young people seem to as you are right-no fees.

But it doesn't work exactly the same there as on ebay so she may not know much about blocking people on ebay. Whether she blocks you or not though, you may not be too keen to buy from her again anyway.

She didn't do the right thing by you but I think your main aim now is to move on and just make things easier for yourself and that probably involves having a second account. This springyzone account I am using here started out in life as a second account (more for buying) when my sister & I were selling.

The thing is, if you buy something on ebay and it doesn't fit, it's just easier to sell it a month or more later under a different account, that way potential buyers don't see it in your history. It's not just about the price but if people see something bought then sold rapidly, they might wonder why. You don't want to have to put explanations in every ad. That's how my sister & I worked it anyway, it just gave us more privacy that way. Good luck with your sales!

I too have just had my immediate payment evidently 'returned' because of covid according to seller.

I would have bid more but was only bidder.

Now seller says they did never sell to Australia befor but their ad said AU$9.99 postage.

How do i report this?

finejewellery claims they are not allowed to send to Australia.

Their items are still for sale here.

What can i do?

Did you manage to contact ebay?

It was to be a gift.

All the best of luck with future buys. (

Hi there. Welcome to the forum. I'm sorry to hear of your bad experience. This is not a good thing. Sadly this dishonest practice has been around for as long as way back then and more. I saw your feedback you gave the seller and it was to the point and not an attack. This will serve as a warning to prospective buyers and bidders that they should tread carefully with this seller. It will hopefully get this seller to lift their game and hopefully be honest in practice from here on.

Below is a well-known case involving <Removed>,  a decent bidder who won an item fair and square and then was given the same excuse as you were given.

Seller Cancels Auction Sale After Item is Paid for. / Bargains Depend entirely on Goodwill

'There should be an investigation and  then a warning from eBay issued to sellers who delve into this practice.

I notice that the seller has been a member for well over a year and has only left one feedback themselves. That's a negative!

Unfortunately it seems 'luck' is what we need)

Hi jasperkarin, sorry to hear of your dilemma. Could I ask what country the seller was in please?
