Seller from UK trying to overcharge on postage to AU on auction won.

Hello, I have a story to tell if those want to read it.  There is a collectible that I've been looking to purchase from a seller in the UK thats only available in the uk, I saw an auction & asked offline if he would ship to AU he said yes.  The auction had a listing of GBP10.00 with a buy it now of GBP 20.00 postage extra.  I had missed out on bidding on the auction however asked him via message how much he'd be willing to sell without ebay. he said GBP 25.00 and wouldn't budge on the price, fair enough.  I told him Id try to bid for a lesser price & he tried to get me to buy now to not waste time bidding on item, Even sending paypal address so that I would send payment right away.

He relisted & with the same starting price & buy it now, I bid on it and won for GBP 10.00.  I receive an invoice for a grand total of GBP 22.00 which is GBP 12.00 for postage to AU more then the actual items i bid on.  Bare in mind I have purchased many items from the UK to AU, some same size figures only more (i'm buying just 2 of these figures) in quantity for GBP 5.00+.  I even purchased a construct a bot wall-e in a box for GBP 8.10.  I brought this up to him and he begins to get testy with me giving me all kinds of reasons and excuses for why the price is GBP 12.00 even requesting I cancel transaction & bringing up that the offer he gave me outside of ebay was how much postage was going to be.  Also tells me cost of box, bubble wrap even the post office he sending it to.  I know for a fact that something that small doesn't cost the amount he's requesting yet he insists that either I pay it or he won't deal with me.  I had been willing to offer as much as GBP 7.50 which should be sufficient enough for postage & refuses.  I know I'm being overcharged for postage & he even knows yet he refuses to admit to it. I know he's just looking to get as much money for his figures as possible.

I find it very disrespectful of his practices & I would cancel transaction but I want the items I bid on.  I just hate being taken for a fool and being overcharged. As a seller I know that getting to the post office & whatever you use to ship item(s) out is your responsibility, anything extra should be told to the buyer if he wants to pay more, a seller shouldn't expect buyer to pay more because of the hassle the seller goes thru, you list it on ebay KNOWING all the things you must do to ship/sell so it shouldn't be a surprise. He claims tracking & signature are a reason too & said he doesn't want to ship on the cheap.  I told him it should be MY choice to ship certain way as they would be my figures once paid. He doesn't acknowledge that either.

I'm not sure what to do, he sounds like a smug scammer & automatically expects buyers to pay what he says based on his word.  I want the items I just would feel like a moron accepting to pay his outrageous postage fee.  I feel that if I do accept to pay his price that I should demand proof be sent along or be seen on the package & if the total amount doesn't equal the amount he asked me to pay then I should take the appropriate actions on him.  Thoughts?

there is no way i would sell to this buyer he is NOTHING but trouble he is going to leave you a negative anyway so just cancel the sale he does not deserve the items or for you to put up with it is obvious he will not be happy with any thing you do sooo unfair when you get negatives from buyers like this

trouble? how am I trouble, I already told him I wouldn't leave him any negative feedback. If i was unfair and a pain to deal with I would have 292 negatives from sellers/buyer not the other way around.

There's so much hate & anger in this thread you all need to just chill. Judging from your negative feedback there pink-budgie you need to not stress so much. it's not good for your health.

This is GOLD! Especially the last part-

i'm requesting the standard international post without tracking and he refuses,

So would I! I want every guarantee i can get that my customer is going to receive the goods that i send them, and even if you say now that you won't hold the seller respobnsible, and no doubt you really mean that, but there have been many examples where buyers go back on their word and stiff an honest seller. He dopesn't know you from Adam. He is being a sensible and smart businessman IMO.

so I'm paying close to GBP 7.00 in unwanted fees that I have not agreed to for the shipping method.

Sorry, but tough - this should have been clarified before purchase, not afterwards. They are his terms and conditions, you need to check things like this before you enter into the contract and agree to buy.

that is close to $10 australian (depending on actual price of the package for standard international post without tracking) that I'm overpaying, Understand? wish I could explain better via hand signal or puppets but alas this is the internet...

sorry, but you are blaming a seller here for your assumptions and poor trading practices.

Just because one seller is prepared to take risks, does not mean we all have to.

You made a mistake. You assumed. You need to pay what this seller is asking.

And if he supplies a service commensurate with the charges he applies, (so the tracking and SDOD and packaging or whatever it is in that price up there for minimum $10.05) and you inturn trash his stars or feedback because he wouldn't cave in to your unreasonable demands that he post without protection for either you or himself, then I hope he squeals like a stuck pig to ebay about it

if what he states to be true then he would have no problem presenting me evidence of proper postage for item. I'll apologise and move on. However in many cases sellers overcharge for shipping and pocket the rest so it won't look like they lost out on what they were selling. Sellers need to understand that if theyre not willing to part with an item for less then what they wanted they shouldn't have posted low to begin with.

Read up, you might find some interesting things there. I am willing to pay him what he wants. he now wants to back out. From what I heard from ebay he might've already relisted & if that is the case with him haven't completing his transaction with me. That's a big no no with ebay.

Why would any seller want to sell to you after reading this thread?

I have a feeling you may find yourself with a few problems buying in the future

really?? how would that be?  as a buyer you can ONLY receive a positive or no fb at all.  so there is no way you could have (as a buyer) a neg. fb

I cannot believe that you are demanding for proof of how much the postage costs still, after a screenshot has been attached stating the costs of postage.

If you want a quote for tracked and signed it is easy... Go to here- http://www.royalmail.com/price-finder

Or do you need another screenshot?

BTW: I am pretty sure having two accounts is against eBay policy and you will be banned from eBay if you are found out.

Trusteduserid, you are permitted to have more than one account - each must have a different email address, and if you are a seller there must be no interaction between the accounts, especially on auction listings.
