I'm sure I'm missing something here. But I was under the impression that at least one payment option from a seller had to have buyer protection. I ran a quick Ebay & Google search and don't seem to have found much supporting this however.
A seller has recently listed a number of items I'm interested in bidding on. Despite having the Paypal option as an accepted payment, they've specifically noted in the listing that they don't accept Paypal.
Essentially they only have COD & Bank Deposit only. But I think the seller has confused COD as pickup only which they have also specifically noted is not available.
I basically only purchase through Paypal because of the buyer protection, I am aware of others BP options, but these aren't offered by the seller either.
Can they do this?

I just myself had a guy sell a item to me and I payed immediately using PP , He then sent me a message saying to cancel the PP payment as his PP is broken BS have it fixed if that's the case with a simple phone call. I did what he said and have not heard from him since other than a message with his back details which I have happily ignored and he has not bothered to contact me now for about 30 so when the 48 days is up I will lodge a dispute INR and leave neg on the 47th day and there is not a damn thing they can do about it its the rules.
Suggest you learn the rules yourself sweetpeav8vegetablejuice
You only have 45 days in which to open a Paypal dispute but please feel free to wait 48 & lose your money if you want.
You have 60 days to leave feedback.

Foxette I suggest you read properly , I have my money they would not take the PP payment. Dur.

So you didn't write this ? Must have been your OH when you weren't looking.
so when the 48 days is up I will lodge a dispute INR

And I will probably not worry about the INR as there is no point the seller will be lumbered with the fees and neg feedback from me I think that's plenty considering it cost me nothing.
The PP transaction has already been cancelled so there is no point lodging a INR now is there even though I have the right to but don't seem right when they don't have the money that is something I will ponder for the next week or so how nasty do I want to be. But yes I fooked up 48 days, no , 45 days. I knew it was 40 something. and 60 for feedback I believe correct me if I'm wrong I'm sure you will. I will leave it till 46 days and neg then that way he cant lodge a NPB in retaliation to getting a neg.
And my weren't we all quick to jump on the band wagon with out reading and understanding what was written properly.

OH you know I wrote it that is just stupid and I have said I may not do it because it don't seem right he will pay the fees get a neg and I have my money don't seem right to lodge for something Im not going to get now does it.
I have my money I will leave neg and he will have to pay the fees. Now tell me should I lodge a INR when I haven't payed for it will it make them take the PP payment and send the item I doubt it there anti PP and that's all there is to it no point flogging a dead horse got me money done the damage now move on.

@residentyg It does not matter what it is they can not refuse your PP payment if your purchasing from eBay, PayPal is eBay its owned and run buy eBay. And its there rules.
Just make payment via PayPal and if he refuses the payment its there problem you will be fully covered. Your money will be returned if you do not receive the item.
How can I put this in words you might understand?
If you OFFER Paypal then you have to accept it.
If you DON'T WISH TO offer Paypal you don't have to,
BUT you must offer another SAFE payment method eg Paymate or Credit Card.

My sincere apologies for not being my usual obnoxious self but I slept in this morning and haven't had my second cup of coffee yet.
I am interested to know how one can open a dispute, at 40 anything days, for a transaction that has already been cancelled in Paypal.
Answers from on a pinhead please.
