Seller ignoring my requests for Fastway tracking number

I bought an item and selected Fastway as the options as the estimated delivery time was faster than Australia Post. Seller marked the item as posted on Feb 1 and the expected delivery date was stated to be Feb 2-3. I contacted the seller on Feb 2 very nicely asking for the Fastway tracking number so I can make sure I'm home for delivery. No reply. I asked again on Feb 3 and Feb 4. Still no reply and no tracking number. I called the local Fastway courier who said there were no deliveries on board for my address. So I have no idea where or when this parcel will arrive.

My question is...do I contact the seller and ask again warning that I may have to leave neutral feedback if I get no response? He is one of the many sellers that refuse to leave buyers feedback until they get theirs....which really bugs me....but that's another story.

His listing does state that there will be Fastway tracking.....guess that means for his benefit and not the buyers!

While it is not good form on the seller's part to ignore you, Fastways have a reputation for not being very reliable.

All you can do is wait until the seller does contact you or the parcel is delivered.

If you threaten the seller with poor feedback you will be giving him every reason to have it removed....ebay does not take kindly to feedback extortion and are more likely to sanction you than the seller.

As for the seller not giving feedback till he has received it....why does it bug you?

Feedback is voluntary and many sellers wait till the buyer has confirmed that they have received their item and are happy with it.

I take exception to sellers who request positive feedback saying they will then leave feedback for buyers. If sellers do not do the right thing then buyers risk reciprocal negative feedback if they attempt to warn other buyers of bad sellers.

I never leave feedback for sellers that do not leave feedback first. I always leave feedback for my buyers as soon as they have paid.

I know others will disagree but that's just how I feel. I have had negative feedback given in spite by a seller when I gave him his well deserved negative.  So if I leave this seller any feedback it may be a neutral at best  but will mark him down on communication and delivery time.

Sellers can't give negative feedback so how did you receive one?

If I counted how many sellers haven't given me feedback I would need a few pages lol

Not sure if eBay have changed the rules but several years back sellers definitely could post negative feedback.

justaname....

as feedback is suppose to reflect how one feels about the transaction, it surelly would work both ways.

In the days when sellers could leave a neg for the buyers - after receiving a neg from them - for whatever reason - they would hardly be happy and up beat about the transaction - so of course, they would leave a neg!

In this case, that would be a very low act to penalise the seller for your choice of a courier with an unreliable reputation!

Maybe the seller is sick of you and is not responding, or maybe just not around to do so.

You chose Fastways, now wait for your parcel.

I tell you, I wouldn't sell on Ebay for all the tea in China, wouldn't have the tolerance for any of this!

Just makes me wander how the world is functioning just fine with buying/selling on any other site - and here - continual boring dramas - buyers and sellers having a go at each other ad nauseum.

The OP wouldn't be penalising the seller for their own choice of a courier, they'd be penalising them for not giving them the tracking number or communicating.

To the OP, it's quite a few years since ebay removed the ability for sellers to leave negative feedback.  They can still leave negative comments but it has to be accompanied by a 'green dot'.  I also won't leave feedback first as a buyer, unless it's bad feedback and I really want to warn other buyers.  As a seller I prefer to leave it first, on the principle of 'do unto others as you'd like them to do unto you', rather than 'do unto others as they've already done to you' (ie. leave feedback after they leave it).

I have the opposite problem at the moment.  I bought from a listing that showed the postage method as being Aust Post parcel but they sent it through a courier.  I would never have bought if I'd known they'd send it this way.  I feel b*y-minded enough about it to not bother chasing it up so that it goes back to the seller and they'll have to pay for a returned parcel.  I have a very slow computer and I don't need to be messing about online to try and arrange re-delivery, then have it left on my doorstep in full view of the street (not to mention in full sun), and I certainly have no plans to travel 40 kms each way to pick it up, assuming the next town is where it's being held. I believe they won't attempt re-delivery unless I waive the signature requirement, but I'm not prepared to have them leave it on my front doorstep if it's not signed for.  If it had come through AP as specified, it would have sat safely at the PO until I next called in to check my mail (which I do most days) - no having to waste time chasing anything up, no extra costs, and it would have been secure.

Most (if not all) sellers are acutely aware that buyers have the option to leave positive, neutral or negative feedback, and are likely to leave one of the latter two if the service was sub-standard, which I personally think is reason enough not to mention it in messages at all - it will usually have the opposite effect to what a buyer intends.

Which is to say, a good seller will do the right thing because it's the right thing to do, and a not-so-good seller who might need the threat of bad feedback to do something  - anything - will remain a not-so-good seller regardless.

Re: sellers and feedback in general.... Every member of eBay has the right to choose if, when and how they leave feedback. I find that if you respect others and their right to choose, their timing will no longer bug you.

Your solution is very easy, if you were tpld delivery would be a couple of days and the seller has not or cannot provide tracking just open an item not received dispute through Paypal. The seller will then have to provide a tracking number or refund you.

As for the feedback I have no clue why you would not leave it if you were happy with your purchase unless you get some first, why do you even want it? Buyer feedback means nothing more than that you have purchased from a seller who leaves feedback, it says nothing about how you conduct yourself on ebay as the feedback has to be positive.

Thanks for the suggestion. I did raise a dispute with Paypal and a couple of hours later got a response from seller to my very first eBay message. Apologies, a family funeral.  Seller said a staff member should have checked inbox. They checked Fastway and no further tracking info on item. Sending item again express post.

Still wondering if it was actually sent the first time....guessing if it was a family funeral perhaps the "staff member" slipped up so hence no tracking number.

Will await the postman today or tomorrow.
