Seller lying about location.

Hi all, It disapoints me that ebay allows sellers to be fraudulant when they claim that they are shipping items from an Australian location when they are clearly not. I recently had a faulty product that I believed was purchased from Aus, but when it proved faulty I had to post it to an international freight company in Melbourne. The item was clearly being returned to an offshore location. I was only able to track it to Melbourne, from there, who knows? It stated in the listing that the itemn location was Australia and I expect that to be a correct statement, not a decoy that might encourage a buyer to buy locally, even though we all know that the products are mostly built offshore, but at least local suppliers might keep a few Aussies in a job. Ebay should not be allowing such blatant false claims in the listings, but we all know that the big money end of town rules.

The biggest problem with items being listed in Australia when they are coming from overseas occurs when they have to be returned for some reason.

If your item was returned to an Australian address you really can not complain at the cost etc.

Because it was a phone, and by the sellers terms it had to be regestered post with tracking, I am still $15.00 out of pocket,

It all adds up.

If you open a paypal dispute you have to return the item by online trackable post so it is not just the seller's terms....and the buyer is always out of pocket unless the seller refunds the return postage which does not happen very often.

I can not see the phone in your purchase history but despite the listing saying the item is located in Australia I think if you check where the seller is registered you will find it is probably overseas.  That in itself is a pretty good indication of where the item will come from.

Do you have a paypal dispute open ??

You indicate by the sellers terms of return you had to pay $15 ??  Returning a phone with tracking and signature requirement should only cost around $10 tops ??

The original phone was purchased in October, but the seller is only showing a private sale, no item details. That phone failed to work in my area due to a freq issue. Not all phones will work in all areas, some people may or not know that fact. It was returned and replaced with a model that was suitable. This phone began freezing and shutting down at random. It was a large screen at 5.5'' which made the package just over Aust post's 500gram limit for the lower postage cost, putting it into the under 1kg range. The postage cost alone then becomes $12.75 plus the registered post cost of $2.95 making a total of $15.70. Hope I have explained myself now.  True, you can see where companies are located, but that could mean their head office, they could still legally have a stock holding warehouse in Aust, which is what I was led to believe, by the item location being Melbourne, which was a lie and aimed to mislead.
