Seller no longer registered - how to get warranty?

I bought a small appliance on eBay in August last year. Appliance broke last weekend so wanted to contact seller to get item fixed/replaced under warranty however seller is no longer registered. Am I basically left with a broken appliance and no recourse?

Re: Seller no longer registered - how to get warranty?

Sellers can and do provide warranties that are separate or in addition to manufacturers warranties.

There is also a range of consumer protection provisions for warranties offered by sellers and manufacturers under the Australian Consumer Law.

unless the ebay seller was a registered business, licenced to sell the brand product you purchased, there wont be a warranty.

contact the manufacture and find out if you are covered for a repair by them, but the majority of manufacturers do not supply a warranty for items sold at auction or on-line thru non-licenced resellers.

Warranties are supplied by manufacturers, not sellers.

Follow Putney's advice & contact the manufacturer or Australian distributor.
