Hi, perplexed as to why one of seller's listings wont open so I can purchase. I have messaged seller who states that seems to be fine for her. I am only getting "see items similar to" coming up. Never had this before. Can someone advise what this is likely to be please?

Wouldn't have had a clue without your help Wendshee. The seller didn't know either although she did say she had some trouble listing the week before or something to that effect but she couldn't tell me how to get into the listing. I told her I was coming in here for help. Thanks again.

Hi PJ and Wendshee. Listing has finished as I just purchased it. Item number came up after I followed Wendshee's advice then I typed it into search engine. Listing then opened from that. I use Windows 8 PJ and have always used Windows and never in all my years on Ebay encountered this problem. Many thanks to you and Wendshee for your kind assistance with this.Windows is the operating system for the computer. What PJ was referring to is the browser you use to view the internet. IE (Internet Explorer) is the default browser for Windows, and it doesn't play nicely with Ebay. Try downloading Firefox or Chrome and use that instead of IE as your internet browser..
Sorry eggles, meant IE. Was pretty late when I had my dilemma last night. Yes I have noticed on the boards previously that IE is now not recommended for Ebay browsing but am reluctant to alter it in case I do something wrong as I am not at all very computer savvy I have been experiencing what I think may be site glitches with pages turning to gibberish for want of a better description. If it's not a site glitch but IE I dont get why I never had that problem until some months back when many others were reporting assorted Ebay glitches at various times. Thanks for your input. Much appreciated.
Simple.
Microsoft has (or will shortly) stopped providing support for IE. The browser they only set up to kill Netscape Navigator - which it did.
Then Mozilla and Google set up browsers to kill IE - which they did.
Firefox or Chrome, both or either. if you can turn your computer on, you can navigate them.

All the browsers are similar in the way they are used. They all have tabbed browsing, they all have a pop up blocker, they all have favourites/bookmarks, just to name 3 things. My husband is the most intolerant person in the world when it comes to change and he got used to Chrome in 2 days. The quickest way to download Google Chrome is to open up the Google search page and up the top right corner is a link to download Chrome. One of the big advantages to using Chrome or Firefox is, you never have to see another ad, EVER.
If you have or create a google account, if you stay logged in on Google Chrome, all your bookmarks are saved in cyberspace. What that means is, you can log into your account on anyone's computer and your bookmarks will be available to use, providing they have Chrome. I'm not sure if you can do the same with Firefox as I've never looked, but you probably can. I know you can transfer your bookmarks from IE over to the new browsers.
I use both browsers, but personally prefer Chrome. The only reason I prefer Chrome is I always have a LOT of tabs open. If I have more than a few tabs open in Firefox, it blows the memory and CPU out and I have to keep restarting the browser. I use both browsers so I can have both of my eBay accounts open at the same time. For the forums, I have been using IE because that's a different account again. That's all I use IE for. I don't like it because it's unstable and there's too many ads! There are also a lot of security issues with IE.
Other people prefer Firefox because it suits their needs better. They are both excellent browsers and are very similar to use. I would actually recommend installing both browsers because some sites work better on Chrome, others work better on Firefox. I find eBay is much of a muchness on both. If I had to pick which was better for eBay, I wouldn't be able to.
When I refresh my selling page on Chrome, the page loads, jumps up a frame, jumps down, jumps back up again. Firefox just loads and stays put. When I create a listing, Chrome (for me) is better because after I have submitted and I hit the back button, I only have to go back 2 pages. On Firefox I might have to go back 12 pages depending on how long I took to create the listing, because it seems to refresh itself in the backgrouns (not sure if that makes sense LOL).
I find google maps is better on Firefox as it seems to blow out the CPU on Chrome for some reason. Facebook is better on Chrome. Youtube is better on Firefox.
When you've installed them, come back and let us know and we'll tell you how to install the adblockers to get rid of ads. No more flashy banners, no more slide ins, no more of those annoying ads in ebay listings, no nothing!

Hi Wendshee - I also use both Firefox and Chrome. Mainly so I can keep my two ebay IDs separate. I haven't noticed a lot of difference between them in they way they behave for general browsing, they are both very similar. The only confusing part for me (and probably because I installed Firefox before Chrome) is the Print button. Just not natural for me to have it up on the right.

I didn't know there was a print button! I always just use Ctrl-P. I knew the option was there under the 3 horizontal lines on each, but didn't know there was a button. Maybe I removed it when I didn't have a printer.

Thanks so much everyone for your great advice. I will have to install Chrome I think. Hoping I will have far fewer glitches and blocking ads will be great. All the best.

When you install it, click on the 3 horizontal lines up in the top right, then mouse over more tools and select extensions. When that page opens, down the bottom of the page is a link to get more extensions. Click on that. On the next page, type Adblock into the seach field and hit enter. On the next page, scroll down until you find Adblock Plus. On the right is a big blue button to add to chrome. Click on that. It will then install it and you are right to go! Once you refresh any open pages that have ads, the ads will disappear.
The only time you will see ads is if Adblock crashes, which it might once or twice a year (if that). If that happens, go back into the extensions page (horizontal lines, more tools, extensions) and restart Adblock. You'll know if it's crashed because the red stop sign near your address bar will either disappear or turn grey. It's at that point you forget how many ads were on pages!!
You may still encounter the odd glitch, but nowhere near the capacity of IE.
