Seller takes payment and then re lists item. What can I do?

Hi,

was hoping someone could please help me.

Bought an item and paid straight away, then half an hour later seller re lists it.

Have sent messages to seller but will not respond.

What can I do about this?

It may be too soon to lodge a claim with Paypal which is why I suggested that you wait for around 7 days before doing so.

The seller may have more of the same item available. I often relist an item soon after a sale.

Thank you for your reply.

Is a video camera, same photos etc. Is definately the same item.

But seller has started the bidding at a much higher amount.

The price is irrelevant, If the seller has more than one item he is perfectly entitled to use the same pictures to list another item.

I do exactly the same with some of my items.

It looks like they've made a mistake with the original listing, or as a new seller they've fallen for the eBay spin to list an item at 99c, as they've relisted at $99. If you get no response from them and they don't refund your payment you can open a PayPal case to get your money back.

Myra, this looks like another instance where a new seller has followed eBay's advice and started an auction at 99cents.

You can't force the seller to sell to you and in this case, I would just ask the seller to refund and not neg them for not honoring the sale, it's really eBay's fault for encouraging sellers to start auctions at a very low start price, when they (the seller) probably don't realise a BIN will disappear as soon as the first bid is placed.

Edit. snap bbs............

If your seller continues to be unresponsive and hasn't yet refunded your payment, if nothing arrives after around 7 days lodge an INR dispute with Paypal and escalate as soon as the system allows you to. Far too many sellers are getting away with this sort of behaviour and it needs to stop.

If he refunds your payment and sends you a cancellation notice, don't accept it otherwise he'll be refunded his listing and FVF fees and will continue doing the same thing to other buyers. Also, if you leave a negative and then later accept cancellation, your feedback to him will be removed.

Does the payment show as pending in eBay (with an hourglass symbol instead of the dollar sign) ?

If it does you can login to PayPal and cancel the payment yourself.
