Sellers refusing to leave feedback for buyers until positive feedback left for them

I am quite new to ebay and already several times experienced sellers refusing to leave feedback for me until I have left positive feedback for them. I generally pay immediately I win the auction and with my first two purchases the seller then left feedback and I left feedback when I received the item.

Since then I've had several sellers refusing to leave feedback for me until I left positive feedback for them. I think this is unethical. Positive feedback for me as a buyer should not be based on what I say about the seller but about my behaviour as a buyer.

I am wondering what other buyers think about this.

Good point as i must admit i find it a bit off putting when people ask for feedback, both buyers & sellers. Although i do understand sellers have much more to lose especially now with DSR's. Thats probably why ebay got rid of those stupid emails they used to send asking buyers to leave fb, i think most of the buyers (who never sold) believed they had been sent by the seller & it annoyed some.

Hey when i was a checkout chick i always meant it when i asked the customer 'how are you?', i really did want to hear all about their problems including how they had to go to the doctor for an infected toenail & just how green & itchy it was LOL

Lol, you could always take the "Anya" approach (quote from BtVS):

Anya: [to a customer who just finished her purchase] Please go.
Xander: Anya, the Shopkeepers Union of America called. They wanted me to tell you that "Please go" just got replaced with "Have a nice day."
Anya: But I have their money. Who cares what kind of day they have?
Xander: No one. It's just a long cultural tradition of raging insincerity. Embrace it.

seeing as how a lot of sellers won't deal with zero feedback buyers then yes, buyers should receive feedback.
