Sellers suddenly not leaving any feedback?

Not that it's a big deal, but the last four sellers I've purchased from haven't left any feedback. I've been on eBay for years and have never had anyone not leave feedback; It was generally received very soon after sending payment.

Is there any reason that I'm unaware of, that sellers would suddenly all stop leaving feedback?

It seems too coincidental that they'd all suddenly stop at the same point in time.

Sellers suddenly not leaving any feedback?

Maybe you've just struck an odd patch.

In my experience, most sellers on ebay these days tend to be semi professional, small businesses.

I am usually given feedback after I have given it to them, although very occasionally I may get it immediately after payment.

But my perception is most sellers now hold off till you give them positive feedback first.

I can understand that in a way. A seller can't give a neg and they would be kicking themselves  if they gave a glowing feedback to someone who later turned out to be a scammer or difficult customer.

It's the private sellers, the home sellers, where I find FB is a bit hit or miss-may or may not get it.

Personally, I think once you have a reasonable amount behind you, it isn't a big deal whether you get it or not but I must admit it always looks more professional to me if a seller does eventually give FB as it feels as if they have completed the whole process. Plus I like them to tick the box to show when an item has been posted.

As for the importance of FB. It can vary but sometimes you can pick up a trend eg today i was looking at a DVD. The seller has a fair bit of FB that says the same thing over & over-extremely slow postage, as in weeks after expected. As their projected postage is already pretty long for a local seller, the FB is telling me there is something going on, maybe drop shipping or whatever, but not to buy from them if I want anything within the month. So yes, it can be useful to have FB.

Interestingly, more & more sites are introducing some form of FB but usually it is just about the product, not the buying process.

Sellers suddenly not leaving any feedback?

Many sellers will now only leave feedback after the buyer has left theirs so they can be sure there were no problems with the transaction, possibly this is what's happening in your case.

Also a lot of sellers will leave feedback once a week or once a month.

Sellers suddenly not leaving any feedback?

True enough. I leave feedback as soon as I've received whatever I purchased, and I pay as soon as I've made the purchase.

I do agree that it seems a lot of buyers are quick to leave negative feedback if what they ordered is wrong or damaged, before even contacting the seller, but I've luckily never had anything turn up defective or damaged.

It just seemed odd that having never happened before, it's now happened with the past 4 purchases I've made, two of which were delivered weeks ago and still not received any feedback.

But as I say, it's not a big deal, it just seemed strangely coincidental and I was curious if there might have been a reason behind it.

Sellers suddenly not leaving any feedback?

There are quite a number of sellers who never leave feedback at all, I wouldn't know how many of them I've bought from TBH, but judging by how much feedback I've left vs how much I've received, on the whole it'd be a really small percentage - my guess is you just happened to strike 4 at once.

Other possibilities are that their FB is automated and didn't work for some reason. I leave feedback manually but in bulk (that is, with some exceptions, I use the selling manager tool to select all orders awaiting feedback then click again to apply my comment to all), but it's not unusal for that not to work. Sometimes I've left feedback but get a message from a buyer asking me to leave it (not advisable to do this Smiley LOL ), and for whatever reason, I can see it in my "feedback left for others" profile, but it doesn't show on the buyer's profile. No idea if the 'feedback received' icon is filled out on their order details, though.

Sellers suddenly not leaving any feedback?

Feedback has been declining for years now.

When I first started buying and selling 10+ years ago, everybody left feedback. That was also back in the days when buyers could gets negs. I noticed that after they changed that policy, the feedback being left started reducing.

I have 1700 transactions, but less than 900 feedback.

Sellers suddenly not leaving any feedback?

As a Seller I'll only leave FB for a sale after the Buyer leaves FB (been doing it that way for a number of years) and FB left has decreased from approximately 70% of transactions to now around 15% of transactions.

On the other hand, another Seller I know who has always left FB as soon as they have posted the item to the Buyer only used to get around 50% FB and their FB has dropped to around the same 15% mark that I'm seeing.

As a Buyer, as soon as I've got my "Loot" from the Sellers, and it's all tickety-boo, I leave FB and the FB rate from the Sellers has remained steady at 95+%.
