Ordered a MCE remote and received a lesser cheaper piece of *rap instead.
Seller says I have to send the wrongly sent remote to have it replaced with the correct ordered item. So I'm suppose to ware the loss of the purchase or send it back to China, and we know what that will cost.
Does this not open the door to a rather good scam ?
Is it correct that to get any results I have to return a unwanted item send by "mistake" to get the item I actually ordered.
I think I will be severely curtailing EBay Paypal purchases if this is true?
By the way, this will the second wrongly sent item in the last few weeks, maybe a new way to increase profits by the sellers?

Firstly, you won the item on the 22 May, and then left positive feeback on the same day.
I doubt that paypal ( i assume you paid by paypal?) will even consider an INAD case because you have left positive feedback already, but you could try i suppose.
Secondly, did you even read any of your sellers feedback? His red dots speak volumes!
I wouldnt be touching his merchandise with a ten foot barge pole!
NEXT TIME ~ wait until you receive the item and have inspected it before leaving any feedback, ok ๐

Feedback does not negate the option to open a dispute, To cover yourself, open one now for item not as described, paypal will also ask for documented proof the item is not genuine, take it to a reputable retailer who can verify and provide a statement to the fact on a letter head,
Forward this to paypal, they may instruct you to return the item via trackable means and you should do so to the address PP provides, send PP proof of postage and get your money back.
However they may also instruct you to destroy the fake item, (only if it is a fake and not just an alternative cheap brand) and no need to return it,
You won`t know until you try, but what ever you decide at least open the dispute first. that gives you an additional 20 days to escalate to a claim.
And never leave FB until item is received, inspected and tested.

Nope, sorry wrong! No feed back has been left on this item by myself.
The seller has 5 negatives mainly for miss fitting camera adapters, hardly a sea of red. Inclined to a bit of hyperbole do we?
Next time you might try and find out some facts before fir5eing off, just a suggestion, which I'm sure you will ignore.

I've check postage to send it back, actually a dollar more than the item cost.
I think a big problem with eBay /Paypal is the requirement to return a item, I can understand where the right item has been sent and the buyer changes his mind, but why should the buyer wear the cost of a seller sending the wrong item??
I think not, I think Ebay and Paypal need to make the seller aware if they send the wrong item, they have a responsibility to remedy the problem , not the buyer.

So how does anyone prove which item was actually sent, or for that matter returned?
It works both ways.
I'm pretty sure that "I changed my mind" isn't one of the things covered by PayPal.

It actually is..Paypal refund thousands of buyers each day bc they have changed their mind or want their money back..It's Just usually disguised under Not as Discribed..

If you make Paypal aware of this, they can give you a discretionary refund.
All you need to do is open a dispute, escalate to a claim & then phone them.
You can also follow through with an email that includes a link or copy & paste of AP website showing cost of returning is cost prohibitive.
The email address-once you have the dispute number-is

HI
In all the sales i have done ,we managed to stuff up 2 orders this year (we mixed up the parcels and stuck the wrong address labels on them
we were contacted by the purchasers and worked out what had happened
both purchasers were extremely good about it and sent the items back to us
when we received both items were sent them their correct ones
we then informed them that we would refund them the postage costs (one was so kind as to not want it so we refunded him approx $5.00 more than the actual postage cost as a thank you )
the above was totally our error in this case so we refunded the postage costs in this case( i might ad they were soooo nice about the error that i was happy to refund it)
they ethically should agree to pay for the postage a sit was their error in total for sending the wrong item (as opposed to sending an item which may have prematurely failed,etc...) but dont have to
that i suppose is the problem with dealing with some overseas sellers
