I enquired about some shipping costs for two items from the USA and sellers responded with: contact ebay Global shipping program for price. The listings had "may ship to Australia" on them. In my past experience with this, ebay have said "talk to the seller". So thats the end of that more or less. I mean you could probably commit to buy and get the invoice with ship cost on it, but gee, it could be a lot more than you want to pay for, and then, after, possibly having to ask seller to do a cancellation. No thanks.
Michelle, What is it that your wanting to purchase? The GSP has a policy of not sending certain items to Aust, even though they may be allowed. Ask if the seller can post it another way apart from GSP. If not, buy it from someone else who will.

This would include sharp knives to prevent assassination attempts on courier drivers.
Seriously though it's up to the seller to get the GSP rates up, are they actually defaulted into the GSP, if so the rate should show on the listing.
Could you give us the item numbers?

If the seller is using the GSP then the shipping price will show on the listing, along with the statement of any import costs due.
You do not ask the seller for a GSP shipping cost as the seller has no idea what it is going to be.
If you are wanting to buy some sort of animal foodstuffs I think you may find the GSP will not ship it to Australia.....so many foodstuffs are restricted that Pitney Bowes just refuses to ship any of that sort of thing even if it is not a restricted item according to Australian Customs and Quarantine.

It's not just because of the footstuffs and quarantine etc.
It's if one of the foodstuff parcels is in a container on an aircraft with just Pitney items, then when they come to PRE CLEAR
it through customs before it has even arrived, it can't be because the foodstuff will have to be inspected.
Which means the whole container will be set aside and the package taken out, thereby holding up the whole lot.
Far easier to just say, No, no food stuffs, pre clear each shipment, straight to the Pittney "Customs bonded" Warehouse
where it can be sorted and sent out.

Michelle, if the 2 items are from the same seller then if they use the GSP, you will pay 2 lots of shipping. You can't combine postage with GSP. The seller can't send an invoice, GSP blocks them from doing that.
Did you notice that the item number you left is for something in FAIR condition? It's all cracked and broken and has tape all over it holding it together. Don't be surprised if the GSP cost on that is over $US30. That would make that item a very expensive lot of broken plastic. For that money, you'd probably be able to buy a brand new one.
Also being used and in not real good condition, it won't be able to be cleaned properly and you may introduce something to your pets that could make them sick. A friend of mine has pet rats and he won't use anything 'used' for his pets. It's too easy for them to catch things.

If the seller uses the GSP, then it doesn't matter what they tell you, you pay full postage on every item you buy from them. The seller has no control over the postage costs, that is dictated by the GSP. I would be contacting this seller and asking if they do use the GSP and if they do, I wouldn't buy any more than 1 thing off them, unless they are prepared to post using USPS.
For the item number you posted and the playpen (which I'm assuming is the other item you were looking at), you would be looking at over $US60 for postage. All their other listings show the GSP as being their postage method for international shipping, so I would assume that's what they would use for these 2 listings as well.

This item number is NOT using the GSP. If that is the seller who is telling you to ask ebay for the GSP costs then he is really saying he does not want to ship to Australia.
While you may have bought this brand of item before, have you bought it in Used condition? I doubt that Pitney Bowes will ship it at all.
