Shipping to Australia by US sellers

Getting increasingly frustrated with US sellers including shipping to Australia in their listing, then stating in their description "shipping to US only" or "may not ship to Australia". I always check on the shipping quoted by sending a message (as I've been caught before with US sellers underquoting for shipping then attempting to extract more dollars) and the answer comes back that they don't ship internationally however their listing clearly states they do. I like to source some of my stock internationally and they don't make it easy!

I don't know if it's an ebay education thing for new sellers but it seems to be happening more often.

Anyone had the same experience?

Apply for a US post box, I have one in Seattle and they forward my parcels at a reasonable price and within a short time.

That is great advice.

It would have been excellent advice for the OP you have replied to...in 2013

HI there. I'm intrigued. I see you're based in Australia and you say that you have a box in Seattle. How do you get them forwarded to you? Please tell me more.

Cheers

Re: Shipping to Australia by US sellers

This has been what's going on. A USD$20 item can cost as much as USD70 to send to Australia (about AUD90). I just ignore eBay USA now they can sell nationally only for all I care and the Harvey Norman tax is even more absurd - just buy off eBay on another platform and no GST as long as it's under AUD1,000. eBay is now a joke and I look forward to any other company moving into that space, the sooner the better.
