Tired of manually searching for Aussie sellers

As a buyer, when i come to ebay AUSTRALIA its because i usually want to buy things located in AUSTRALIA, not China, or the US etc, yet by default when i do a search for a keyword, it shows all items available to me from both Australian sellers & overseas sellers, unless of course i check the thingo
on the left side of the page to only show Aussie sellers.
Now personally i find this really annoying, i really think it should the other way around, it should default to sellers in Australia then if you want to buy items from overseas check the thingo. I know its been like this for along time now but it seems lately more & more items coming up in 'best match' (which i also loath), are from overseas sellers.

Why would i want to buy something with a higher postage rate that will take longer to get here when i can buy it locally & at the same time support an Aussie seller/business? I am not referring so much to unique collectible items, more to items that there are loads of the same of coming up in search.

If i forget to change to aussie locations it also means i have to look through many thousands of items instead of maybe a few thousand or less, i guess some people may see that as a good thing because it offers more variety, but personally i find it unhelpful because it makes it more time consuming, especially in categories like clothing where there are so many items.

This is Ebay Australia so they should be supporting Australians as much as they can, (especially in these tough times) and this is not the way to do it! well thats my whinge of the day over, what do others think about this? (i shall now take cover lol)

In the genre I sell in, the OS sellers who have decide to loss lead can apparently sell for less than my postage; much less fees, purchase prices, something for my time.

I agree Barney, I also put in AU only and other countries come up.  I find this very annoying.

.....USA sellers coming up and NO aussie sellers as of 15/6/2013.......prior to yesterday USA ebay site forums have sellers complaining for 4-6 weeks that 'overseas buyers have disappeared....' Same in UK ebay forums....same around the world on diff ebay sites, just pick a country/ebay site!!!

.....Tthis is NOT a glitch.....it is again a case of 'someone' manipulating the servers....On/Off.....ON/OFF....etc'

Media reports in 2012 ebay bragging that they were saving their shareholders power/energy bill $'s @ over $2million dollars a year by turning off 400 of their over 52,000 servers.

......now, before the usual ebafia/forum moderators come in for the usual scathing attacks and I will POQ:-p

I totally agree , while I'm probably a bit more ebay search savvy then my other half ( who's basically given up buying on ebay because he says he can't find anything he likes) I search far less then I used to.

In some cases where I know I used to get thousands of listings come up , often there simply is none or a few. I'm either doing it wrong or there are way less listings in the type of things I buy .

I've been wanting to buy stuff from AU but there's just not much around or there probably is IF I spent more time then usual on ebay which I'm not about to do.

well what a pleasant surprise, its not often most people agree with me lol ๐Ÿ˜‰

Since your comment paintsew007 i've been reading up on the boards &, it does seem obvious now there is some specific technical problem why less relevant items are coming up in search, and hence sales are down.

Ebays plan to become the biggest online global market place could be backfiring on them badly. They seem to have forgotten that nearly every company who's ceo has half a brain has now setup online sales as well as bricks & mortar stores, because less people were wanting to leave the comfort of home & go to a shop. Depending on what product people are looking for they are probably finding it easier to find by going to a stores website & doing a search where they only have to look through a handful of items, not thousands (people like your oh jerryman12 whom i suspect are growing in numbers) Sure it might be cheaper on ebay but they might not want to spend so much time searching.

That & the constant changes are killing this site, i know people almost begged for change going back about 5 yrs ago or so, but especially in the last 2 yrs it seems to be never ending, i can barely keep up with it all, let alone some newbie. Don't even get me started on the top rated plus sellers thing, from what i've been reading, its not working very well because again, its overseas sellers that come up at the top of the list. I could go on & on but will just say

EBAY please start listening.reading what AUSTRALIAN MEMBERS want on EBAY AUSTRALIA before we go under with you :_|
