hiya folks...
I bought and paid for two items from the same seller. We agreed on combined postage before any bids.
The seller took 4 days to send me the invoice, which i had to email him and ask.....
(postage would have been $30, but he only charged me $27) (still not cheap by anyones wallet...)
Then about 5 days after that i emailed him again and asked if he had posted it yet... then he replied "yes"
I waited a week, no parcel.
So on Tuesday this week, I tried to open a INR but ebay said to wait until 10/10/15... so i emailed seller and told him. He then gave me a tracking number and said that his PO said it should have only taken a couple of days.
I have waited until today. Still no item. I have now put in the tracking number and it says delivered!
Arrgghhh but i dont have any parcle.
I work away, and i dont get home most days until after 6pm.
I have not had anything on my front veranda nor have i been carded to collect a parcel from the after hours at the PO.
I live in a really good area where folk wouldnt just steal it from my veranda if it was left there....
I emailed the seller again.....
Im not sure what to do now. If i open a INR, and seller prooves it was posted with tracking number, wont that mean I wont win?
All up, im out almost $60.
But then at the same time... its unfair on him too.... Im lost about what my next step is now and your help would be most welcomed.
Thanx Folks... TIA
xx Jane

Good thinking - ours is, but only until 11.30. Also, my understanding is if the item was originally carded, it is 'supposed' to be carded a second time before the parcel is returned to sender & that the PO will only hold it for 10 days. So if by chance it has remained uncollected, it may have been returned but not been received by the seller yet.
I would agree janeababe, the sooner yo can get onto your local PO the better

Photos !!!!!!!!??????????
Ebay seems to be implying photos of "any type of documentation that will clearly show proof of sending the item ....." might be considered !!!!!!!!!!

phorum_junkie, glad to see that you got your money back from PP,
hopefuly not at the seller's expence. although can't imagine why did you even bother contacting them in the first place, it's not like the seller didn't post it, or it's not like PP had anything to do with delivering it to you - so why call them and expect/demand the payment from them, even threaten with the Police?
Did you even bother contacting the seller and asking them if they lost any money? Hopefully PP didn't take it from the seller's account to pay you!
If anyone ought to pay it should be the Aust. Post - loosing it was their doing, not the seller's.
When similar thing happened to me, it was only about 100 bucks or so in value, no big deal, it didn't arrive, yet seller did send it and had a tracking to say it was delivered.- and then insisted to geve me the money back!
I told to forget it, it's not their job to cover it and be out of pocket, and the more I told them no, thatnk you the more the insisted to refund - so they just did in the end.
And, of course, after numerous complaints to the PO, the parcel did arrive about 6 weeks later - and do you think seller wanted to be paid again? No way, no siree, it was so frustrating - didn't know what to do so just sent them a big bunch of flowers insted.

Not taking sides or intending to stir but why couldn't you have just resent the payment via PayPal ? That's what I would have done

PJ did not threaten the seller with the police.
She was prepared to give paypal a stat dec. to the effect that the item did not arrive and if that was not enough she was also prepared to make a report to the police.
Why should a buyer loose their Buyer Protection just because the seller has Seller Protection?
In the past, if both parties qualified for paypal protection then the funds came from paypal. It is quite a recent development that paypal now makes one party or the other responsible. How is that fair when both parties have done the right thing?

Jane, I have PM'd you.
That tracking number is an over the counter tracking number.

Exactly Lyndal, I assumed that Paypal would cover the refund and you are correct that I would not have been reporting the seller to the police but would be reporting that the item had been lost or misappropriated by an AP employee or left in a non safe place where it could have been stolen by anyone.
I think that ebay's response asking for proof of posting to the buyer's address shows that just sticking a satchel in the red box is insufficient proof, I would think you at least need a PO receipt along with a copy of a click & send or ebay label.
I have always been of the opinion that just providing a tracking number without it showing as delivered should never mean a buyer does not get their money back, sellers could just create the labels for a fifty buck item, put in the tracking number and then wait for the buyer to lose the dispute, some sellers seem to think this is OK.
I for one, on the less than a handful of missing items, have if they do not show as delivered, refunded without question even if I had all the proof I needed that the item had been sent to the buyer's address. I have only ever had one that the buyer climed was undelivered when I had tracking to show it had been. It was before the days of creating on line labels and all parcels having tracking, although I had not provided a tracking number I had sent the parcel registered and as soon as I told the buyer I had sent it registered and it showed as delivered so perhaps she should ask at the PO the parcel miraculously appeared "at a neighbour's" a coupe of hours later LOL.

I also work Saturdays 9am-1pm.... in the neighbouring town, 56kms away.... so me getting to the PO is a difficult task. I will try and ring my local PO on Monday.
Seller has replied to say he used the address in ebay and its correct.... Im not really sure what he means by that! It didnt really answer my (Did you use click and send lable, or address the parcle yourself?) question.. LOL.
Anyway... I did pay by paypal... so if i get no luck from the PO by Friday next week, I will commence an INR. I cant see any other way.
Im guessing that the delivery driver might be a newbie, or a slackie! (my driveway to my house is quite steep.. some dont like to use it and for some reason, they almost never use the steps! LOL )
I should state, that at the time this was supposed to be delivered, i was at home... My new job had not started then... so i would have known if it had been delivered. And it has not.
Thanx for your suggestions and PMs 🙂
Helpful advice... thank you 🙂

@jensmanchester-australia wrote:PJ - I have this exact situation at the moment - tracking is showing delivered and buyer is claiming INR. I did offer to try and sort it out for them but they chose instead to go down the ebay dispute process and have asked ebay to make a final decision.
This is from the email I got from ebay last night:-
I understand that the item was not received according to the buyer even when the tracking says so. I'd like to give you the chance to provide us with the detailed photos showing proof of shipping (e.g. a receipt or any type of documentation that will clearly show proof of sending the item to the buyer’s address on the View Order Details with the postal carrier's header). I have placed the case on hold for 3 days so you will have an ample time to send us photos.
Hmmm.... well thats interesting!
So what happens if you dont have pics???
Are you made to refund then?
