I bought a bottle of shampoo and Australia post tracking said it was onboard to be delivered on the 2nd.
I did'nt recieve it and today tracking says - 'item appears to be damaged. driver transferred to 0000"
I presume it is leaking or something but I don't know what Australia Post have been doing with it since the 2nd of Febuary?
Where is it going now?, will the seller have it returned and send me a replacement or is it my responsibilty to try and get compensation.?

You can open a dispute for item not received.
BUT contact the seller first and ask if they can send a replacement or refund as it is up to the seller to package well enough to avoid damage in transit.
If tracking shows it has not been delivered and it is up to the seller to locate where it is.
DO NOT let the seller string you along till too late to take action
