Venting! To all sellers of swap cards..

Just venting- I DO wish all sellers of swap cards would package them properly. Have they never seen how mail bags get thrown around? Paying hundreds of $$$ for cards to be sent inside an old christmas card and not even registered is a joke! Then they expect positive feedback when item is damaged. I don't want a refund, these are one only items. I just want them undamaged as advertised. NOTE - Lots of experienced card sellers are brilliant at packing to ensure no damage - kudos to them.

So let me get this right.

You expect me to sell you a card for maybe $2.00 with free post.

And then you expect me to pay $5.00 for registered post to send it to you ????

And in reply to what i just wrote.

If i send a card it is protected in cardboard inside the envelope.

I have sent out hundreds of cards and they all get there and are never damaged.

And Kudos to you Hawk. I have also sent hundreds of cards out and they never get damaged. Not all sellers are as careful.

I don't think he is asking for registered post, rather, good packaging.

Sending them inside two thin sheets of cardboard still gets the large letter rate. I'm not a card seller but it seems pretty feasable to just add a couple bits of cardboard and factor it into the sale price. I doubt cardboard costs much to buy in bulk or just use bits from old boxes.

Hey Hawker. I don;t expect you to be out of pocket, no. You send your cards packed in cardboard.Thats fine, but a christmas card? I only buy $2 cards for my grandson but I pay hundreds $$$ sometimes in one transaction, a little respect for the item doesn't go astray, and if I pay you that much then if it is not offered free postage then I a pay for registered. What started the venting in the first place was $131 purchase, requested registered mail, paid for reg. mail. Then found it delivered standard mail and worse ...in the garden getting rained on! And yes, I have complained to Aus Post and dealer.

In swap card buying.  most reputable dealers give you free registered post if you spend $50 or more, so I don;t think I.m being pernickerty. Just those few who spoil the fun and don't use decent cardboard. And to repeat a lot of dealers take great care in packaging. Not complaining about all of em

Just a packaging tip.  Use 2 pieces of platic corrugated board (2 or 3mm).  Run the corrugations opposite directions and it won't bend.  Seal right around the edges and it is waterproof.  Very light and usually sneaks into standard letter rate.  Many cardboards are dodgy - not waterproof and variable in durability.

I also agree - when you are a collector and you order a rare item its not that it is damaged and you get a refund that matters as much as its that a rare item is damaged and not in your collection.

Clingwrap doesn't bulk much and should provide a waterproof barrier.

Thank you. At last some sanity re packaging. But I have noticed the obvious absence of swap card dealers in this whole thing, so it's prob falling on deaf ears. Thanks everybody
