Very high.postage cost

I enquired to seller about an item which had an extremely high postal cost. It was listed on site as for postage to Australia. The reply from seller was we do not post to Australia. I thought why is it on there then.

Was it located in the US?

If so, there's a good chance eBay decided it qualifies for the Global Shipping Program and listed postage costs to Australia without the seller knowing or opting for international services. You can tell GSP listings by the very high charges, and the "Customs service...." note on them, with import duty / charges calculated separately and shown underneath the P&H cost (even if calculated to be $0).
