I was emailed a $10 voucher to spend on an Ebay Paypal purchase. I have a programme that puts a key beside real Ebay emails and this one had the key. I bought a swimsuit and applied the voucher. It seemed to be accepted and took the $10 off the total but when I went to do the final payment I was informed this email address is not connected to your account and asked to pay the full amount. I would not have bought the item if I had not been given the voucher but I was now forced into paying the full amount because I bought it on a "buy it now". The statement about the email address not being connected is false. It is my connected email and the voucher was sent, by Ebay, to that email address. The fine print on the voucher email says Ebay will not be responsible for failure while trying to use the voucher. I feel cheated by Ebay and want to warn others not to fall into this trap/scam/whatever it is. If it is not a scam and someone knows what I did wrong, please tell me. i would like the $10 back.

I certainly wouldn't make the seller wait. I have already paid for that purchase. I meant that I will use the voucher on the next purchase I make after 30March.

I have attempted to use the voucher twice now and it failed both times. I had to pay full price for items that I was only purchasing because of the $10 voucher. Will be ignoring any future emails with vouchers.

I rang the PayPal 1800 (Toll Free) and explained the details of the voucher failure. PayPal quickly said that they would credit my account with $10.00 (minus the cost of the call!) and not to bother with trying to enter the voucher code. Oh well, that is a resolution and they did say sorry during the call.

I'm having the same problem, made written complaint to paypal but still haven't heard from them... now I have a seller waiting for my payment. Never happened to me before.

The original voucher email said:
"It's been a while since you've shopped with us, so we're giving you $10 to find something you love on eBay."
My voucher didn't work so I contacted customer support & I got this back:
"We understand that you may be awaiting a response from us regarding the $10 eBay voucher you received from us earlier this week. We experienced a technical issue when distributing the voucher code and consequently some of our customers may have received it inadvertently. Don’t worry you are still eligible for the voucher which will be available for you to use from 30 March, 2015."
So my theory is only people who haven't recently used PayPal are eligible. They pretty much say that, without stressing the point. That would explain why some get it to work & most don't. PayPal done goofed.
So how long has it been since the voucher email that you guys used PayPal? For me it was 12 days & the voucher didn't work.

@indigorosey wrote:It worked for me - is your Paypal email the same as your eBay email? Perhaps that is the problem. I don't know if it is too late but you can add the email to your Paypal account and verify it.
Out of curiosity how long had it been since you'd used PayPal prior to getting the voucher email?
It appears that only those who haven't recenlty used PayPal are eligible. I just want to work out if that is the case, because they pretty much admit that their technical difficulty was sending vouchers to ineligible customers.

Some buyers were getting an email saying it would be valid after the 6th. Might be worth trying again then.

My theories just went out the window. I decided to try it again & it worked. I bought something from the UK instead of AU. Maybe that makes a difference? Or maybe it was a time difference thing with the start date? So confused.
