I was very excited the visit a site after seeing them advertised through eBay.

I went to what I thought was an american website. Checked out the reviews, studied the description, examined the dress photos and decided to purchase. No mention that the garments would be made in China either.

The dress was horrendous. This is a site where they post a photo (I question if they have the copyright to do that!) and then send the photo to China where they make the dress from the photo. Substituting mesh for lace; a scalloped lace hemline for straight cutoff mesh sequins....

Their response - too bad, its close enough! When I pushed they reluctantly agreed to 50% return of purchase price once I paid for it to be returned to CHINA! I also reported this to my credit card provider - they were less than helpful too.

The morale to this story - if I had paid via PayPal perhaps I would have gotten a better outcome.

Obviously you didn't google the name before purchasing because there are not very many favourable reviews for that company, there is even a face book victims page.

Sorry to hear about your bad experience.

I am very wary of some online dress sites and have heard similar horror tales to yours.

I am sure there must be some good ones, but I have been shocked to see ads on ebay that clearly feature photos of wedding gowns lifted straight off designer sites.

And I mean straight off-exact same photo!!

I know this because I am in the position of having 2 daughters marrying this year, so I have seen about every dress shop in Melbourne and looked at the official designer web sites as well.

And one of the online frocks on ebay that I saw was one a daughter had ordered (for $1900 in the shop)

So.. an ebay shop had it listed as $19. Genuine? I don't think so, somehow.

I did use google as my search engine and nothing sprang out at me. Good advise though.

Sounds like you went off ebay and purchased direct from another site, big mistake. You obviously forgot the number one rule: If it looks too good to be true then it probably is. There are a select few Chinese sweatshops sellers who do a good job of making dresses to order but they are few and far between and unless you are prepared to accept that you will at the very least be out of pocket for an expensive, fully tracked return then you should not expect that you have picked one of the good guys.
