Warranty under Ebay

Are ebay purchases over $100 covered by Ebay warranty if seller does not advertise with warranty? if seller does advertise a warranty, are they enforceable?

If you buy from an official supplier of the brand, then you should be covered by their warranty. A private, seller backed warranty is only as good as their honesty. If they offer one, and you have a problem, speak to them first. Use Paypal to pay for 45 days of buyer protection, and back that with a credit card for a bit longer. If there is a problem, talk to the seller, but do not let them string you along past 45 days. Anything where a warranty is important you are best buying from an official retailer.

so no, seller warranties are not enforceable unless they are an official supplier. if the seller is a registered Australian business, you can take any isses further than eBay...but for new cameras, PCs etc., best to buy from somewhere with a known warranty in case you need it.

Ebay does not offer any warranties....they do not sell anything.

The only enforcable warranties on ebay are the ones issued by authorised sellers of an item.....then you would get a normal manufacturers warranty.

bought a generator off <Removed> online worked for 1 hour and have been waiting for 6 months for parts and it had a 12 months parts warranty

You need to read what Lyndal said, right above your post.

You have no recourse through eBay and all you can do is talk to your state Fair Trading department. And don't buy generators online. How much did you save after freight? Not enough to have no effective warranty, I'll bet.
