Today I was looking to buy batteries for my Dolphin torch and came across a seller with multiple listings for Panasonic 6v heavy duty lantern torches. These batteries are normally sold for around $5 each RRP ... but this seller is selling them for as much as $137 each, or boxes of 6 for $487. http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Panasonic-Heavy-Duty-6V-6-Volt-Lantern-Battery-4R25S-4R25-4F-LED-flashlig... It is utterly absurd! I bought mine from the Toolroom for $4.60 each instead https://toolroom.com.au/products/Panasonic-6V-lantern-battery.html How can this be legal or ethical business practices?

To me it looks like a Chinese Seller who pretends to be an Australian seller. They are based in Hong Kong. You can report it but chances are ebay will do Zip about it.

Putting this in perspective ... I could have bought 30 of these batteries from the Toolroom today for just $1 more than this seller is asking for just 1. Same brand, same battery, same SKU. This is just wrong!

It could be that the seller doesn't have any in stock and to keep their listing active rather then remove it they put a ridiculous price on it .
Have you contacted them ?

I think you might be right on that. I guess from ebays perspective people are allowed to charge whatever they can get away with ... or whatever people are willing to pay. I just needed to vent my frustration somewhere because ebay doesn't have a reporting option for this type of activity. Thanks for your reply.

I could be that he's out of stock and trying to hold his spot in the pecking order.
I wouldn't bother with it.

They have many multiple listings for this product, both single and in boxes of 6. Yes I sent them a message about it. No reply yet though. Thanks.

I wouldn't buy off em full stop. Buy locally ( Australia ) not from Chinese sellers claiming to be here. I have real issues with this sort of carp. Ebay do nothing about them. In fact, they condone their false locations. Report away and see what happens, but don't hold your breath.

if you look at the screen grab below you will see that this listing has been going for quite some time now. You can also see that it was revised on the 7th Jan
My guess, like others', is that they have put a high price to prevent buyers from buying while maintaining their position in Best Match search rankings. As soon as they have more in stock they will drop the price back to the normal price they list these at.
