All sellers using "eBay's New Global Shipping Program" for their International shipping -their international buyers cannot bid on items item - this is costing the sellers, sales and money.

I've heard this eBay urban myth about "importing knives" numerous times and it's a complete crock of poo circulated by no life forum junkies who have no life outside of eBay other than to post absolute dribble.
Knives ARE NOT a prohibited import.
Specific types of knives are restricted or prohibited (the nasty types).
Here is the ACTUAL rules pertaining to the importation of knives....As you'll note NO RESTRICTIONS on kitchen knives, butchers knives, hunting knives, fishing knives, or even butter knives.
The problem is PITNEY BOWES, not AUSTRALIAN CUSTOMS.
Knives and daggers (restricted import)
Description: |
Daggers, automatic knives, single handed opening knives, butterfly knives, trench knives, ballistic knives, concealed knives/blades, throwing knives/blades/axes, star knives, push knives, sheath knives, non-metallic knives. |
Permits issued by: |
Daggers and throwing knives/blades/axes require written Police Certification (B709B Form) from the relevant Police Firearms Registry, prior to the arrival of the goods in Australia. All other knives require written permission to import from the Minister for Immigration and Border Protection, prior to the arrival of the goods in Australia. |
More information: |
Customs information centre Please see the importing firearms and weapons webpage for detailed information |
Address: |
Requests to import these goods should be addressed to: Weapons and Strategic Goods |

Well well, welcome to the boards from one of the eBay wannabe's.
If you care to look at the OP - most answers were given prior to any mention of what type of knife.
Re: Why is "eBay's New Global Shipping Program" blocking International shipping on knives?
But I will bow out and leave it all in your obviously capable and 'experienced' hands.
...over to you

From one of the ebay wannabe gurus.....thank you for doing our (voluntary) job for us and posting that extremely rude reply.
If you care to read the post directly above your outburst you will see that I gave exactly the same advice but a lot more succinctly, as did several other posters.
