Why is there so much angst

between buyers and sellers?

I have been buying from eBay for about 12 years and have rarely had any trouble.

I like the sellers and if there is a problem I assume they mean well and that something has gone wrong.

We all have problems but most of them can be sorted  by communication and other than that 'please' and 'thank you' carry a lot of weight.

Yes things can go wrong and sometime people scam you.. and if you pay by PayPal you can open a dispute thingo, which I have once or twice.... but to think people are being mean just to abuse you is wrong.

I see so many people here tussling with sellers who could have sorted the problem if they had just COMMUNICATED

Agree bump, there does seem to be shortness of patience at times and some thoughtless kneejerk remarks, and we should just press the ignore button as I'm sure you do. 🙂

Re: Why is there so much angst

I purchase used books and have had no dramas.

It all just happens.

From reading the -buying and selling forums-

-the trouble appears to be with electronic items

and clothes sizes--just saying...........Richo.

Re: Why is there so much angst

Totally agree with coopers post;  my family mainly buys used books and boy have we seen some ridiculous feedback given to the book sellers with quite unjustified negs

"didn't like the story"

"didnt read the description, thought it was bigger"

"thought copy jacket meant it was the original jacket"

or even "thanks" with a neg!

it just plain mean that sellers have great difficulty getting  feedback revised, in most cases ebay won't interfere;    I don't know what the solution is, except maybe there should be some further process that sellers have to go through before they leave a neg or a neutral.

No wonder sellers are angry and I agree, just plain scared.

Re: Why is there so much angst

What a lot of people don't seem to know is if you pay by PayPal you can have it sorted for you.

I have had two bad experiences in all the years I have been buying.

One from China which was badly broken and not amber, but plastic... 😮  PayPal sorted him out.

And one where I paid but never got the article and neither did I get any response when I emailed the seller... PayPal sorted that one out too.

I think a lot of trouble comes because people don't seem to understand that PayPal is more than just an easy way to pay, they do save a lot of distress.

I have never left a neg simply because it's sorted out 'off stage' so to speak.  I can't imagine leaving a neg unless the seller was abusive and not willing to sort the problem out.  I bought this computer from an eBay site and they were wonderful sellers, only too willing to help in anything that might have happened.

:^O love the reasons for a neg grevilleas... it's like the one I saw posted in the chiropractors rooms.. "have to cancel, my back is too bad."

Re: Why is there so much angst

A lot of trouble occurs when the buyer doesn't take the advice of the more experienced board members and goes off on their merry way, then they come back to the boards and complain..

When buyers let the seller drag them past the 45 day dispute, then come in and complain that eBay/PayPal won't do anything.

When buyers won't pay with PayPal, get ripped off, then come in and complain that eBay won't do anything when they are advised from the start that Bank Deposit carries no buyer protection.

Then you get the sellers who come in and start numerous threads complaining about why they can't leave negatives for buyers, and somehow think that will help prevent other sellers from being ripped off..

Then you get the buyers who think it's ok to come and name and shame a seller to warn other buyers

There are only so many times you can answer the same questions and complaints without being a bit blunt.
