Hi, just a question: If you pay for an item and the postage is a Australia Post Parcel Post Bag (500g or 3kg) which has tracking number, shouldn't the seller supply number to buyer. I have had two items last month not show up, both were posted in these bags (500g & 3kg) with tracking number, but both sellers did not supply number and now upon checking with them, they both say they didn't record it and threw away receipt. How am I able to check where the items ended up, Aust Post can't help me? One seller has already refunded without incident, but oher seller says it is not her fault. I still have plenty of time to open INR case, but if you are paying for delivery in these bags with tracking number, shouldn't seller be obliged to supply, which is benefit for both parties in this case.

I totally agree - to supply tracking numbers is so easy, must be one of the few innovations ebay have made that I like!
It is the seller's responsibility to get the item to you - so I would be following up with that seller.

If it is the prepaid bags perhaps the seller/s just mailed them in a post box and didn't remove the barcode/sticker?
I guess unless they took them into a Post Office and asked for them to be scanned in there may not be records.
Personally when I am using satchels I always take a picture of the front and barcode/sticker just so I have
that extra record.
Did the actual item description say it would be sent by a tracked means, any mention of tracking? Or just that
a particular satchel would be used?

Sounds like the sellers may be using the Aust Post over the counter bags. They purchase the bags there, address & pack them then send them off. The receipt the post office gives has the tracking number on it. The seller then has to enter that number beside each sold item.
If a seller is using either the C&S online or eBay labels, the tracking number is automatically listed.
l could understand maybe one seller losing a receipt, but two? Awlfully unlucky (and silly on behalf of the sellers as they need that tracking number to give to paypal should a INR be opened).

I thought the satchels could be pre-purchased. That is what I used to do with the 'old style' Parcel Post Plus plastic satchels.
In fact I still have some old stock and sent one off this week - I asked the PO to scan it, it then printed out an "Article Lodgement"
that has an Article ID (Total said 0.00 - Payment not required). I also kept the 'sender to keep' lift and peel sticker which I then stuck on the Article Lodgement. I have not compared my old style satchels to the new ones but if they can be prepaid it would be very easy to pop in a street box and even forget to take the sticker off (if indeed they do have stickers).

Any seller that is paying for postage that includes tracking and DOESN'T upload the tracking number straight away is clearly a seller that has no clue, and/or is a relative newby. As a seller it affords you so much more protection if you do the basic act of typing in or cut-and-pasting a tracking number.
Open an INR request. The seller is silly for not covering their tracks. Do them a favour as well, cut and paste them the first paragraph of what I've written so they can be more streamlined and more accurate in their future sellings.
