Won a couple of items back at end of Feb from the same seller. Items still have not been posted.
Seller has not been responding via messages through Ebay.
on Friday i received an email from the sellers account claiming to be the mother of the seller saying the seller had died on 4/3/16.
It seems a bit odd but how do I tell if this is genuine or a scam?
What do I do about the items not posted?

Doesn't matter to know if it's a scam or not.
Just send the seller a message offering condolences if you wish and tell them you will need to open a case to get a refund.
(Provided you paid via PayPal)
Then open a case for item not received in PayPal and you will get a refund.
I would also give them the benefit of doubt and wouldn't leave feedback.

May I ask why it seems odd?
People die. People who sell things on ebay die. why do you automatically assume that this is a scam?

Kopes, could this be the same seller we have been worried about?
Something happened to him at the end of February.
His negs are up to 203 now

Have a look and see if the seller has listed any new items for sale recently.

Stawks, didn't kopes say that the seller you are talking about was an elderly gentleman? Seems a bit unlikely that his mother would be posting on his account.

Probably right Lyndal.
But the term 'elderly' is relative. My grandkids call me elderly.
Well........they do use another term, but I won't go into that

it seemed like the seller was prentending to be their mother in one message and then themselves in a later one
