bidding not recorded

Getting a bit **bleep** off with the bidding system.   I put in a maximum for an item and it showed I was the highest bidder.   The price remained static unti the last few remaining seconds when it said I had been outbid, so i lost the item. This happens yes, however

the point is, there had been 4 previous bids which were not displayed, even though 3 were outbid the price should have changed, but the page displayed the same low price it did when I placed my first bid, until it said I was no longer the highest with just 3 secs to go. Fair enough, but why wasn't the new price displayed as the bidding increased?  It did not record any activity on the item. This has happened before and it's not good enough.  Is there a special bidding site I don't know about or a button I have to click on to keep to page active.  What's the point of a maximum bid if you're not going to be informed it's being used up.

Did you have the one click screen up? that is normally pretty good at updating down to the wire.

Did you click on the link to show automatic bids?

It is not unusual to get outbid in the last two seconds if someone is an expert sniper or they use a snipe program.

If you bid the maximum you were prepared to pay and somebody was willing to pay more what is your problem, if you were prepared to pay more you should have increased your maximum bid early on.
