I returned a faulty item and paid for postage only becasue he said he will pay for postage, but he never kept his word. He sent me a refund in USD and asked me to send it back promising to send my full refund in AUD. So i did, but after he got the money back, he made all sorts of excuses about not paying for postage. It has been 2 months or more now, and i havent got my money back, but he has got his goods back. This person is a fraud, i have repoted him to ebay consumer services as well as the internet fraud squad.
PLEASE BE AWARE. THEY ARE BASED IN CHINA.

I got my money refunded thru Paypal after 12 months
As the OP failed to open a Paypal dispute but listened to the lies of a Chinese seller I fail to see why the FSO would compel Paypal to refund the OP.

It's amazing how little support both ebay and paypal offer in the way of protection for buyers. I am going through a paypal dispute with a seller (ebay store) in the UK. They havea history of ignoring correspondence and especially complaints
. These people sell new items at full VAT inclusive price to foreign buyers and obviously pocket the extra 20%. That is not the problem with the sale though; I bought a pair of new trousers and they were significantly different from the description. The cost of returning them will be over $60 with tracking and signature (I dont trust them to aknowledger reciept of them otherwise) The trousers cost $95 incl post. Even if they refund the whole ammount incl post I will still be out of pocket by $60 for return post.
The ACCC says the seller should pay for return post if the cost is significant. The seller is doing its best to avoid giving any idea how much they will refund if anything.
ebay handballs any dispute paid by paypal to the paypal dispute centre; paypal only seems to offer very limited protection.
So much for secure online shopping.
I am soon to escalate my dispute to paypal having exhausted all avenues of negotiation with the seller.
I will be very disenchanted with the entire system if I end up minus one pair of trousers and out of pocket by $155
Both ebay and paypal are excellent organizations for generating revenue, perhaps not so wonderful at protecting its customers money, unless you are a crooked seller of course.

Don't buy from a lot of China sellers as I have had lots of trouble with them, trouble is some are good and it is hard to know which ones.
So now I am more careful but in saying that I got caught by a seller saying they were in Northern Territory and they weren't when it took ages to come and then when I complained about the product the email had all these spelling mistakes so that is how I know but for me it was too late dealing with them, so we all seem to take a risk buying online thinking we are getting a bargain and in the long run on a lot we don't.

A bit like replying to a year old thread.
