I like bidding on rare and collectible cds. On one occasion I won a rare cd for a cheap price. Item was marked posted but never came. I had to contact the seller and was issued a prompt refund. Now it seems the same thing is happening again. Anyone else had this happen to them?

One day I'm going to complete that damn doll outfit even if it takes me forever.
There are a lot of avid collectors around the world, have you tried Barbie specific forums? Ones where the die hard fans frequent? You might have better luck finding what you want amongst other collectors.
Good luck. I know how frustrating it is to be searching for that last piece of a collection and take forever to find it, let alone get it.

I needed 2 books to complete the full production of my favourite author.
Could not find any copies. Ended up buying them from the author's at the time of death partner, who was co-author. Cost me $120 for the pair, due to no available online payment options and the lousy exchange rate at the time.
I have since bought these books at significantly lower prices, so I was able to read them. I do have my author's last 2 books, 1st hardcover, unread, and signed and inscribed by the relict. I think I could realise my investment now, but in another few years I might make a profit.
Maybe Barbie collectors feel the same way. Rare rarely gets more common, or cheaper.

Because it's a tiny piece of jewellery I think the reason it is so hard to find is it has probably gone missing in the years since the doll and outfit were released. A lot of Barbie collectors are also sellers so you never know. The dressed doll is easy to buy (described as 'rare' which cracks me up as there's usually at least 6 to 10 on eBay at any one time). What is rare or at least uncommon is the outfit for sale complete but sans doll, or the various outfit pieces sold separately.

I know what you mean about books. It's taken me a while to track down a few to complete sets. There's still a couple of comic specials from the 1960s I hope to find one day as well.
I agree that sometimes you can get lucky in other ways. There was a book I was interested in that had been originally published by limited subscription and a copy sold really well on eBay. I was way off in my bid! But then while researching the author and subject matter I stumbled across an old address, found out he still lived there, finally plucked up the courage to write (nearly 2 years later!), and discovered the book had been reprinted....and he still had a couple of copies left. I bought one, which he kindly inscribed for me. Not being the original edition this copy did not cost a small fortune. I couldn't believe my luck.
Another book on a related subject has been on eBay for - it might be a couple of years now - a BIN price of $200. The book appears to be in readable condition but has a few issues. I'd love to own it but I hesitate at that price. Alas this book is old and is not likely to be reprinted. Rats.
