I was reviewing feedback I had left for sellers when I realised eBay has removed my feedback from a dodgy seller that I had been forced to get a refund from.
What is the point of seller feedback ratings if eBay is going to manipulate them??

eBay only remove feedback if you breach feedback policy
If you were abusive, mentioned a dispute or otherwise made claims about being 'fake' it will be removed
Did you yourself check feedback before buying?
What was the item number
Have you contacted eBay and asked why? requested it be re-instated?

What did your feedback say?
There are rules to follow when leaving feedback.

Yes, you have to be super careful in what you say in feedback. I know those rules yet even I had feedback removed once and it was in no way abusive nor did it mention disputes etc. I did say the item they sold didn't match the photo in the ad and that I believed they were selling second hand or traded in items as brand new. I provided photos as evidence.
Some quite harsh feedback remains up and some gets removed, it depends on what the seller does. If they complain loudly, then ebay might remove it. Sometimes the removal is justified, sometimes it isn't (in my opinion).
I have also read on here that some mega big sellers are able to get feedback removed, even if it seems to be within guidelines. Not sure if that is true or not, but there were quite a few posts about it a while back.

Never mind
Strange you complain about your feedback being removed given the number of dodgy sellers who have left you feedback, both from here and in China
You ignored everyone else's feedback for all those other sellers so why would other buyers take any more notice of your feedback?
Likely this one was just as bad

No Sandy, they removed one of mine where there was absolutely no breach of their policies. (it's in another thread here)

Yes I did, and spent a fruitless hour or so with a CS rep, escalated to supervisor where I was treated like a dummy. All to no avail, I was promised an email from a "manager" within 24 hrs which of course never happened.
This happened with a 5 month old seller with lowish feedback and a 91% feedback rating.

Fair enough Paddy (well, I don't mean fair as in fair it was removed for no reason)
However the OP here has several feedback from previous dodgy sellers that have bought from, so as I say, I find it odd they complain their feedback was removed when they took no notice of feedback that was there and bought anyway
All those red dots and neg comments didn't turn the OP off buying
I don't know why they think their comment would turn anyone else off buying any more than the negs already on display

Hi Padi, I know there is a relatively new FB policy.
Recently contacted CS for some clarification on cancelling a buyers purchase before shipping, long story, anyway was advised to cancel due to problem with buyers address.
I was concerned that buyer would retaliate with -FB, but was advised that if any FB was left by the buyer, it would be Automatically removed and that if for some reason it was not done automatically to contact CS for manual removal.
Have only had a very brief look at the new policy and it appears inline with above advice. Not sure if it applies to all cancellations, or only buyers request, or address problem.
Re your dog bikky man, I am assuming he is using problem with address cancellations.

The feedback "may" have been removed because of this, taken from the new feedback rules:
"We remove neutral/negative feedback when:
An eBay Money Back Guarantee case or payment dispute was closed with the seller having met their obligations to the buyer"
New Feedback Policy - US site link as it may be more up to date
