why does it take sellers forever to leave feedback? ive bought the item. they have been paid. what are they waiting for?
once a seller has been paid and my item has been marked as posted why do they not leave feedback? the transaction on thier end is done. as a buyer i dont believe i should be leaving feedback until i recieve my item. the sellers should be leaving me feedback once item is paid for and posted. correct?

feedback is voluntary so it depends if the buyer/seller wishes to give feedback
i like the buyer to leave feedback first so i know they have received their item and they are happy with their purchase

ah ok. i didnt realize feedback was voluntary. i thought it was part of the ebay system so we can tell who is a good vs not so good ebayer. ill just leave feedback for those who do it for me. thanks.

buyers can only receive a positive fb there are no negs or neutrals for buyers, so, many sellers have used the ebay system of setting up automatic positive fb for a buyer which is left, automatically, once the buyer leaves fb for the seller
therefore you are likely to get more 'green dots' if you actually leave fb for your seller once you have received item and are happy with it.
thats the way ebay works

If the transaction is done on their end, does that mean if you want follow up service with tracking, or help if there is an issue they can just ignore you as the transaction is done?
I leave it straight away as it is easier, and better PR, but I don't feel obliged too. How many serial pest buyers are there with premature feedback left by sellers saying they are the best buyer on the planet?

ic. i think sellers should leave feedback once paid. i think buyers should only leave feedback once item recieved as described and only after they have recieved fb for buying. it seems more fair.
i guess that's not how it works tho.

IMO they should do away with buyer feedback altogether, it is totally meaningless and why a buyer wants it is beyond me.
Seller feedback is a useful indicator of the reliability of a seller, buyer feedback just gives a count of how many items have been purchased from sellers who leave feedback.

I find an increasing number of sellers send emails requesting positive feedback before they will leave feedback for the buyer.
Personally, I don't much like this behaviour it feels like the sellers are holding my feedback to ransom. Once I have paid my part is done, positive feedback should be automatic.
What more can I do?
Regardless of how the rest of the transaction progresses I am done, I paid.
If a seller doesn't leave feedback for me as a buyer I don't leave it for them. I don't think that's unreasonable.
Feedback for buyers can be important too. I have read threads from people who rejected offers because the buyer did not have any or very low feedback and it made them suspicious.

Unfortunately, there appears to be no accepted protocol for who should leave feedback first - the buyer or seller.
Some say that the seller should leave feedback as soon as the item is posted but the buyer may well then leave negative feedback based upon a totally ridiculous complaint after the item is delivered (eg complain that it was left on their doorstep or some other complaint which is totally outside the seller's control). Under such circumstances, the seller could reasonably argue that they want the seller to be happy before leaving positive feedback for them. On the other hand, as a buyer, I've had several situations where I've left positive feedback for a seller and, for no particular reason, they've never bothered leaving any for me. It's a real catch 22 situation.
One way to resolve it might be for eBay to enable buyers to totally remove their feedback (not change it from positive to negative, though) if a seller has not left feedback within, say, 7 days.
