why does it take sellers forever to leave feedback? ive bought the item. they have been paid. what are they waiting for?

once a seller has been paid and my item has been marked as posted why do they not leave feedback? the transaction on thier end is done. as a buyer i dont believe i should be leaving feedback until i recieve my item. the sellers should be leaving me feedback once item is paid for and posted. correct?

Unfortunately, there appears to be no accepted protocol for who should leave feedback first - the buyer or seller.

Some say that the seller should leave feedback as soon as the item is posted but the buyer may well then leave negative feedback based upon a totally ridiculous complaint after the item is delivered (eg complain that it was left on their doorstep or some other complaint which is totally outside the seller's control). Under such circumstances, the seller could reasonably argue that they want the seller to be happy before leaving positive feedback for them. On the other hand, as a buyer, I've had several situations where I've left positive feedback for a seller and, for no particular reason, they've never bothered leaving any for me. It's a real catch 22 situation.

One way to resolve it might be for eBay to enable buyers to totally remove their feedback (not change it from positive to negative, though) if a seller has not left feedback within, say, 7 days.

That's because it's voluntary. They don't have to leave feedback.

My main focus is selling the item and getting it out to the buyer.

If I get positive feedback, you will receive automated feedback in return. I and many sellers don't have time to do individual feedback.

Re: feedback

As Top Rated and a Power seller myself. Leave my feedback in 2 ways
1, Once I have packed the customers order or
2. Soon after payment is confirmed.
This also in my description for customers to read,

Re: feedback

Simply there is no protocol as it is voluntary on both sides.

A seller can choose when, if they leave feedback and the buyer has the exact same choice.

I used to leave FB ro buyers as soon as I received payment, but that was my choice as it made it easier for me to keep track.

First off you dont have to leave any feed back, plus you have 30? Days to leave it any way, theres no rules to say you must Leave it as soon as you pay or sell.

We are all fully aware that leaving feedback is an option and don't need to be constantly reminded. The fact is, though, that most people appreciate receiving feedback and are also polite enough to leave feedback for others.  The questionI was discussing was how to do it without having the process expolited or abused by people making demands in return for positive feedback etc.

I appreciate that many/most power sellers have automated systems for leaving feedback to buyers once they receive buyer feedback and, clearly, they aren't the ones that I was referring to.

For less frequent buyers and sellers, I see leaving feedback as a courtesy and some sellers simply don't extend that courtesy.

Re: feedback

It is also a coutesy for buyers to leave truthful feedback as well.

I normally leave feedback when I enter the tracking number , unless I am suspicous of the buyer.

The feedback process on Ebay is heavily weighted in favour of buyers and for buyes only it is a completely useless piece of information. Feedback extortion or abuse is much more common from buyers than sellers in my experience.

If it was a truly level playing field with equal rights for both sides it may be useful but the current situation is a joke.

As a seller we can not comment on slow or non payers, vindictive buyers, people withdrawing bids regularly to falsify the price, whingers about postage costs, people who can not read item descriptions, false paypal claimers and several other problems.

To purely add another green dot to a buyer really means nothing.

Nor do a lot of buyers.

I leave feedback as soon as I've posted (personal choice) but I would be lucky to get 50% of buyers leaving feedback on my main ID.

But that is the way it is and there is nothing I can do about it. I'm certainly not going to message buyers asking for feedback, nor bring the matter to the boards.

the buyers should be leaving positive feedback once item is received and buyer happy with purchase. correct?

I have came across some buyers lately.. they have 30+ (positive) feedback  or  in some cases, hundreds, but have only left a couple of feedback for sellers.. seems unfair to me...

anyway.. have a good weekend 🙂

If the transaction is done on their end, does that mean if you want follow up service with tracking, or help if there is an issue they can just ignore you as the transaction is done?

I leave it straight away as it is easier, and better PR, but I don't feel obliged too. How many serial pest buyers are there with premature feedback left by sellers saying they are the best buyer on the planet?

Those "SERIAL PEST BUYERS" as you call them, are giving you their money, hope they read your post!
