Sellers can't just disappear, even if they are scam sellers. Your account has to be inactive for 60 days from the time you apply to close your account.

If the sellers PayPal account is empty, PayPal will refund buyers from either the sellers bank account or credit card. If they are empty, I'm pretty sure (but don't quote me on this), PayPal pays you back, then chases the seller to get the funds back from them.

You will be protected by PayPal.

Often what they'll do is take the money from the seller's PayPal account which will send the seller into the negative.

If you open a dispute and the seller doesn't respond to the messages within a set time (10 days I think it is) then the case will close in your favour as long as you have escalated to a claim which you have two weeks (I think) to do after you open a dispute

The  cheap phones from 0 feedback or low feedback Chinese Sellers who have built up their feedback buying and /or selling very cheap items are all SCAMS.

The FRAUDULENT  listings appear daily on this site.

If you've already opened a Paypal  dispute  and the system allows,  escalate to a claim immediately.

If the Seller's gone - no longer registered  - ebay has closed the Scammer's account.

Beware of spoof/phishing emails you may receive. Don't open them and don't click on any links.

Run all your spyware , keylogging and virus protection and change all your passwords regularly

If the seller has disappeared then you have been protected by ebay....the seller has been deregistered.

In this case you open a dispute with paypal within 45 days of paying for an item.  You have a further 20 days in which to escalate to a claim, although it is better to do it as soon as the system will allow.

Paypal will give you a refund.  If the seller has no money in their account then the refund is paid by paypal and they chase the seller.

I hope you have not closed a dispute because the seller has disappeared....you cannot reopen it.
