help with USPS LK...US tracking

Hello!

I recently bought a PC part on ebay from the US to Bosnia & Herzegovina. The tracking was fine until one point when they stopped updating altogether, here's the full tracking number so you can see for yourselves:

LK058944233US

I checked both on ebay.com and on https://tools.usps.com/go/TrackConfirmAction!input.action but the tracking info hasn't been updated since the 6th of august... And the delivery date is set anywhere between the 14th august and 1st september, which could be any day now but I'm not getting any package trace using my local post office tracking service either, so I assume it's not inside the country.

Is there any way I can get an update on this tracking or something like that?

You are on the Australian boards with this question but you could try this website (I don't know if it will work in Boznia....)

http://www.17track.net/index_en.shtml

Otherwise your local post office may have a better tracking site (I know that they do here in Oz.

That type of tracking number seems to relate to GSP purchases from sellers enrolled in the Global Selling Program

If that is the way the items are being sent, the tracking is notoriously useless.

Postal services are not used, the item will be delivered by a local parcel delivery service

I think you might be right on the ball with that, I've only used GSP a few times (for obvious reasons) and that LK on the tracking would suggest Kentucky, where Pitney Bowes runs their "splendid" operation from I think.

No idea how I ended up on the AU site of ebay, sorry about that!

Thanks for the answer, it does make sense. I'll just wait a while longer and if it isn't delivered close to the 45 days limit I'll open a paypal dispute and see what happens.

Thanks for the replies everyone, kinda eases my mind. I thought that my parcel either got lost or USPS doesn't track outside the US.

No apologies necessary, glad to help out.

For the future, the GSP that some US sellers use (often without their knowledge of the charges to buyers) is a minefield, you'd be better to either ask a seller opt out of it then ship directly to you or find one that doesn't use GSP.

Good luck with it, hope it works out for you.

Your item is being sent by USPS First Class International Mail...it is trackable up to the 6th August when it left the USA so I would assume that it will be picked up again when it reaches your country if your postal service tracks items within your country.

It has nothing to do with the GSP....which incidentally does use the local postal service here in Australia on occasions.

Only if FedEx hand it off to them. Canada is the only country where post is the routine last leg delivery, and by then it is internal Canadian mail.

And FedEx does send a lot of Australian mail by Australia Post e-parcel....in particular smaller items.   You have now confirmed that the GSP also uses Canada Post so maybe the postal services of other countries are also used.

Perhaps it may be better not to be too quick to state that the GSP does not use the local mail services until it can be confirmed for every othe country.

However, the GSP has no bearing on the OP's item as it was dispatched via the USPS and has left the USA via First Class International mail.

I don't profess to know if it will be trackable any further than that as I have no knowledge of the postal services in the OP's country.

There is a logical reason for the replyabout not using postal services, and that is that Canada is the only country served by the GSP where PO Box addresses are acceptable for purchases of GSP items and in the terms and conditions it does say that.

Additionally, watching GSP affairs on three continents, I have never encountered a postal system as a primary shipping agent,i (with the exception of Canada) ncluding Australia where postal shipping is at the discretion of the main shipper, Fedex.

Some things are implicit in the structure of the service,
