sarah your question is very vague. What are you wanting to know?

Sarah, If you are reffering to the last minute bidding wars which some auctions attract, there is not a lot you can do to influence this. The items that attract these last minute bids are usually more unusual items that attract experienced sellers. These are often collectors or enthusiests or they are expensive items that lots of people use and want. They will put the item in their watched list and either set a proxy snipe bid in the last few seconds, or manually snipe in the last minute or two of the auction. If you dont have a lot of watchers on your items it is unlikely you will see animated last minute bids. All you can do is list items that people actually want to buy, describe them well, include lots of good photos and hope for the best.

If you want to bid in the last few seconds you can bid manually or you can use a sniping program like eBay's
Gixen: http://www.gixen.com/home_2.php?username=%2Astuff%2Abooks%2A&sessionid=1306946930781881
If you want to use Gixen, then you just put in your maximum bid and it will place that bid in the last few seconds(
you may win it for a lot less but by placing your maximum bid you wont be disappoited if you don't win it),
