Rabbitears - cut that out please... interpersonal comments.

nothing interpersonal about it. I was asking a question. Should it be in Buying or not?

Don't be silly. Why would you address a question to someone who hasn't even posted in a thread?  You are carrying a grudge from another thread in the past.

Sorry, OP, back to your question.

Step one.  Don't buy online.

Step two.  Go into a shop and buy your goods so that you can inspect them.

Step three.  Buy them.  Australian receipt.  Australian warranty.

This is where I think that ebay has really let us down.  It was pretty good in the old garage days but now it's all just cheap junk and you don't even know if the mail system will let you down.  It's even worse for sellers having to pay for tracking.

What you say is partly true. I like the idea of going into the shop and buying the item in a "here's the cash for my item" type of transaction. You can inspect the item and also walk out with it in your possession. However, the shopping experience doesn't always go like that. I was after a pair of Puma shoes recently and went into the Parramatta Rebel store. I saw about 5 types of Puma shoes. I left with nothing and checked some online shoe stores (o'seas) and saw as many as 47 different types of Puma shoes. Sometimes the customer is forced to abandon the traditional method of buying and resort to online buying.

I agree, there are a very limited number of choices for different styles of sports type shoes in Australian retail stores and from Aust online sites. There are dozens of options from oseas stores ,esp the US. The shipping can be reasonable and the cost of the shoe is much lower than in Aust as well.

Online shopping doesn't need to be abandoned. There are 1000's of successful sales transactions completed everyday.

zes - did you purchase this item on or after 1st November 2014?

eBay Money Back Guarantee โ€“ effective 1 November 2014

Buyers can use the eBay Money Back Guarantee when:

Hi All

thanks for the many replies. Appreciated.

This transaction was from June.

I spoke with the seller in july and august. They asked me to hold on a while, due to postal delays from China.

Then it all went quiet. They've not responded to any comms for over a month.

I filed a non delivery and spoke to ebay, who gave me the sellers numbers to call - one of which was unobtainable, the other just rang out.

Joz, I haven't spoken to Paypal yet, so will do that.

Joono...Don't buy online...interesting concept. I predate the internet, so understand what you mean - maybe all transactions from abroad should be traceable via post - i believe Auspost does that now.

Paintso - I've nopt been rude yet, but this goes back further than a few weeks...pre-dates the silly season.

Greencat, tried to call, as above...it wasn't the pet shop purchase, that one's all good.

am*3,  as above, well before.

I'll get in touch with Paypal, so will now mark Joz's answer as the accepted answer, for now.

Cheers all.

What a pity you did not think to give the full facts so you could get a correct answer.

If the transaction was back in June there is absolutely nothing that ebay or paypal can/will do for you.  Don't waste their time or your own.

You have 45 days to open a dispute for Item not Received.

Your only hope now is if you funded the paypal payment with a credit card or Visa debit card.....contact your bank and ask about a chargeback, although it may be too late for that now.

Thanks for the insightful reply.

The most important bit of information is WHEN you paid for the item.   At the time of your transaction 45 days was the cutoff time for opening any sort of dispute so that was the most important thing to know.
